• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Round two of the "other" carb types - Lectron

So was the issue that the flat side of the rod was not facing the engine when you re installed it? Still a little confused. thanks.

Yes Kelly the flat side was faceing the filter side and I did not touch a thing other than fit the cable so really cannot see I had anything to do with it and it must of been shipped this way
Dont get me wrong I am not complaining and feel a right idiot for not realising earlier it just seems real strange and I am just glad to have finally got the bike all back together ready for my next race

Weird but chit happens sometimes i guess.

I found an interesting thing with the Lectron. After 7 days in the desert running perfect jetting, not only was there the barest hint of a dark ring around the exit of my silencer but the pipe itself is blueing with high temperature flow. The plug is perfect and there is plenty of oil film on the engine parts but the high atomization and perfect AF ratio's are creating high temp exhaust flows. See this all the time on the 4t's but 2T's tend to run cooler. This should also create ideal conditions for the pipe to work too.

I noticed much hotter exhaust temps while running the old Lectron Walt and also have a pipe that is a lovely shade of blue around the fattest part of the pipe but I put it down to all the old oil / carbon burning off as it was a used pipe

Looking at this pic Huskybear posted his fuel level is even fuller than mine even after I tweeked the float height as mine never even had 1/2" in the bowl with the delivered settings !! The box was in perfect condition and didnt look like it was dropped and the packing was really good ! so even more confused :lol:DSCN0172.jpg

HuskyBears bike might be leaned over on the side stand. I thought my float level was off to looking from the right side then realized the bike was leaning to the left.

as you can see from the angle of the fuel the 125 angle the carb a lot. Also you need to line it up with the head line to make sure it is horizontal with the cylinder. I'll take a pic of mine to add to this comparison of fuel levels. Thanks for the info, more the better.

Well, I just got done riding with my new Lectron carb. I showed up early to today's ride in case I needed to adjust the needle since I didn't make any adjustments before installing it. It started right up but it was blubbering when riding. Took out the carb and leaned the needle 3/4 turn. Either the Mikuni is a POS, I can't jet a carb or the Lectron is magic. Holy cow! What an amazing difference. Just like others have said, smooth electric feel. I was able to ride a gear higher and rode the best I've ever ridden. I was trying to choose between the Rekluse or a new carb. I don't think I'll be getting a Rekluse now. If you're in doubt, do it. Kelly offers a money back guarantee. I promise you won't ask for your money back and might feel you should be sending him more money because
it works so well.
I know this is a few days old but thats my feelings. I don't feel the need for the auto clutch with the lectron in play.

Interesting. I kinda noticed this too.

I set mine up with the carb pulled and held upright to in between the two lines, even when held level before hand it only had as I said around 1/2" of fuel in the bowl, the old one was between the lines when level so I just set it like that one was.
Gone a 1/4 turn leaner this afternoon and been down the woods for a play so got a reasonable comparison between the old 36 and this 38, firstly the old one would die if the bike was on its side just like a pwk or a tmxx, the new 38 after I tested it with a opps moment and fell off on a wet log stayed running till I picked it up again so Dwight is correct they do run on their sides lol
Bottom end is from memory is just about the same but the 38 exibits no slightly rich feeling around idle as the 36 did and would not tune out.
Mid seems idenditcal but the top end has definatly gained around 1000 usefull rpms and pulled to 63mph before I shut off (14 / 51 gearing )
Did have a tiny little damp spooge around the exhaust outlet but had spent a fair amount of time playing trials rider.
So after a few hiccups to start with I could not be happier with the setup now and just hope I can do the Lectroned 165 justice on Sunday
Will be riding my friends 125 with the 36mm tomorrow as I still havnt tried it and look forward seeing how much its improved

Fitted my 38mm Lectron about 10mins ago. Before fitment i leaned the meter rod three quarters. The idle speed was high taking some time to slow, but to high and according to the notes/booklet the mixture was lean. I turned the meter rod back half a turn for a better result and i'll try another half a turn to see if theres any further improvement. Importantly this will mean i've richened the mixture by a quarter of turn from new. My TMX pilot jet was 38.5 did any of you guys go this rich? Trimmed the airbox rubber boot by 10mm and had the sub frame off for fitment. I dont like on them three screws holding the throttle slide cap, anyone know what allen key screws fit? I like the clear float chamber and general look of the carb. The throttle cable fitted with no adjustments, re-routing etc. So, the power jet, who's been playing and what's the best result?

Spud if you PM me your address I will post you some allen headed bolts as I bought a large handfull the other day
My power jet is now set at one and a half turns and is spot on after a few plug chops

Just installed mine today also. Went for a couple loops around my small, 1st&2nd only, back yard. Was a little blubbery so leaned it out 3/4. Seemed better but doesn't idle down like it should so more adjustments will be needed tomorrow. I can tell already the bottom is much smoother & "Instantaneous" & lugs better than before. No problem with cable or routing, just removed the angled inlet from the kuni.

My bike was on the side-stand in this picture, when the bike is up-right,the fuel level is between the lines on the float bowl.

P1000161.JPGP1000171.JPGP1000164.JPG My good friend Bob (trigger) who I gave my old Lectron came round so we could go through his bike ready for tomorrow
The old Lectron was fitted without cutting back the airbox boot, I personaly dont like this as everything is under to much tension for my liking
Bike is still a 125 and he likes it just that way so hey ho each to their own.
Firstly everything was to rich so I leaned the rod jet ect and after a few more tweeks got it absolutly spot on, I even found out while having the slide out that if you turn the ring that the grub screw that holds the needle 180 degrees you can get half turns of the rod ! wish I sussed this when I was useing it lol
I fitted a 39mm PWK with divider plate to this bike just after he bought it as he and myself got fed up chasing the tmxx from week to week as it hated weather changes and needed a rich needle to preform to its best, the pwk has been faultless and has not been touched in 18 months
So here is how it all panned out - Bottom end definatly gained a bit, Mid gained that lovely smooth but strong lectron pull, Top end much to my surprise also gained a fair bit ! all put together the bike has lost the steps as the different carb curcuits come and go and the rush as the powervalve opens now just blends in as the revs rise into a much smoother but harder pull from top to bottom
We left the bike just idleing for ages and then wicked the throttle as fast as possible and it revved intantly
The silencer at one time seemed to be on fire as it was smoking for around 5 minutes as all the old spooge dried out and in final testing the exhaust was so dry inside you would think it was a four stroke silencer and absolutly no spooge at all
Top end runs on the PWK were 62mph same runs with lectron were 65mph with 12 / 52 gearing
