  • Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Rumor Husky bought all remaining 09 TXC's

Please take none of my post as personal and addressed to you. I only say this because you used the word "I" 7 times in 8 short sentences. My posting was not directed at you or any of your views or anything other than the practice of internet sales, although cheaper to some consumers, can become the demise of your good old fashioned local dealer.
 
Well there is in "I" in imply. That being said, no offense taken. It's nice to see so many stand up for the little guy and be defensive about their brand...Husqvarna. :thumbsup:

Right now KTM is unloading a bunch of 09 super dukes as "demo" models. A person I know (who works at a KTM dealership) just picked one up for over 4k off retail. The bike had less than 3 miles on it. It seems they are putting a few miles on these bikes and blowing them out cheap as demo models. Just thought I share that. Though times are coming for the mfgs. and they know it. Left over inventory is a killer. If Husky can move it to a better market (week dollar) it is a smart move.

Since I'm in Minneapolis and have purchased many quads and motorcycles from Heinens besides a Husqvarna over the last 10 years, I'd like to add that they have very favorable pricing on many of the Japanese motorycles and quads too. They are not just a price discounter for Husqvarna products. My thought is that they must obtain favorable manfucature pricing on many brands to offer such fantastic deals. In addition, the service work offered by Heinens is exceptional and I have been very impressed with their service manager,John, and Paul the owner. This spring I and a few friends purchased Suzuki M109Rs at considerably less than any other dealer in the nation had them priced at. How they are able to offer the fantastic pricing puzzles me but I'm not going to argue.


edit.. sorry I missed your rumor also and joined the Armageddon discussion..
 
Husky

This is my first husky and it's a 09 310. It's not even a year old and the resale is down in the low 4's. That might keep me from buying another husky.

Dude, with all due respect, if you bought ANY bike in the last year or two for the sake of resale, I'm forced to question your logic. Given your 310 is an '09, I may be jumping to conclusions to assume that you got $1K off with the "HERO deals"? Maybe not. But if you did get the Hero deal, you're in no worse shape on resale than any of the Jap or KTM buyers.

I am jealous simply because most of you have a dealer within a couple of hours at the most. I am 260 miles from the nearest dealer and two states away. My nearest dealer is one of those small dealers who is barely making it and sells at msr + 5% to try to make it. My next closest dealer is 400+ miles away and is healthier, sells more units and sells at msr. Once I figure in the cost of driving to these dealers who will never see the bike again, I just can't justify passing up good deals like the one I got from Bill's or 3 years ago from Heinen's. I completely agree with supporting the local guys, I just wish I had one. I will always try to support our Northwest guys as much as I can but if I can't get within $500 of a deal I find on the internet it is hard to justify.

when manufactures start the new year model & still have thousands of existing models in the warehouses, they start offering incentives/rebates to the dealers to sell the existing units. So the poor dealer that bought 5 2009 te's @ lets say 7200 dealer cost in November 2008 is gonna be upset when another dealer has none in stock & gets the memo that husky wants to sell them for 6000 dealer to empty warehouses, dealers get upset. I have no clue what dealer cost is on a Husqvarna is.

$5500 is either a typo or someone fell out of the stupid tree and hit every branch on the way down.:lol: That bike has almost 1,000 miles on it.:eek:
 
i wish they were cheap here ! yes husky is a little cheaper than some others but ktm are asking 14 grand for a 250 over here when the husky is 10g ! honda 9 and yammie same... dealers make a killing in other areas like trade ins and parts/servicing so i am of the opinion that the network will not shrink and evaporate because they sell them at cost or less... they win more in other ways.... swings and roundabouts as they say in wet and wild scotland **************************************** lol..
 
I know of a dealer selling a brand new 09TXC450 for $4999 OTD.

I cant get rid of my 01 YZ for $1500. Its worth more in parts.

State of the Union I am afraid. :thumbsdown:

Just a heads up in case you are not aware, the 2001 (ish) bikes and earlier are not "red sticker" in CA, not sure what that means exactly with your bike, but you may want to consider a Craigs list ad in CA.

I'm not in the market of buying and selling bikes. I usually run a enduro season on my bikes and the get a new one the following year. I could sell my ktm 300 two strokes one year old for $5,500. And I would also think that 50 state street legal bike would hold more resale value. It may not be the brands fault. But when dealers sell 09 leftovers for $5,500 hundred, that's not helping. I agree with Kelly on this issue.
