    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

And I would also think that 50 state street legal bike would hold more resale value. It may not be the brands fault. But when dealers sell 09 leftovers for $5,500 hundred, that's not helping. If you're a racer and competitive in your class Husky Bucks level the resale disparity a good bit. I think many riders go for the two years of contigency eligibility. fury1 is going new bike in one. I know riders who have paid for all OEM parts and bought a new bike with selling old one and their Husky Bucks. Scotty Wolfersberger has been the "King of Husky Bucks" in the ECEA.
 
As others have stated, I don't think it's a Husky/BMW specific issue, at this time all manufacturers are struggling to move inventory. Prices on everything, especially "Toys" are in the tank. There's two ways to look at the situation. One, is that prices are in down so dealers are not making money or two, people are buying bikes now when they otherwise would not. I added a new KTM to the stable because I got it for almost 25% off the list price.
As far as the local dealer dealer being hurt, well that depends on the dealer. Some, not all, open the door for internet sales by not offering any type of discount for repeat customers.
 
There's a price to pay for being different. I've had 3 GasGas 250MC and a TM 300MX and couldn't give them away on resale but I also knew that going in, that's just the way it is with Euro bikes in general. I've had great luck with all the Husky dealers I've dealt with as there is ZERO Husky support in South Texas. I do have a great relationship with my local dealer and he takes very good care of me on all my gear/oils/etc even though I do not ride Honda's. There are some unreal deals local on year-old bikes and Houston economy is quite strong comparable to most US. As many have said the "toys" are the first to go and IF you got the cash there's never been a better time to buy.
 
We in Australia dont get the TXC (cross country) Husky version just the TC's and the TE's.

Our bikes are far more expensive than what you guys pay in the US however. RRP on a 2009 TE450 is $12495 AU which at todays exchange rate (.912) is $11400 US.

We arent feeling the recession anywhere near as bad as you guys (thank f*%k) and bike sales are getting stronger and stronger so i guess its not a impossibility that they are plating or modifying these TXC's to sell here.
 
Internet Buyer

I live in Central Florida and we don't have one Husky dealer here in Florida. I do buy my bikes from ebay but would love to support a local dealer if there was one.
 
The only reason I bought a left over Husky 250f a month ago was because I got it for $3,800 dollars and I am going to make contigency on it in 2010. I KNEW that they wouldnt last at that price soo I bought one before I sold my KTM. I was smart to buy when I did. I bought from Heinens and will tell you that I will never buy from them again. They dont know anything about Husky's and are like a Walmart of dealors. My mistake, I won't make it again.
I must admit though, I love the price I got the bike for. It was the deal of the century. I think it was a win/win for Husky and me because I never would have bought one if not for the cheap price. I didnt know anything about them and honestly didnt consider them competitive. But now that I did and have raced it, I am really really happy. I am now a Husky convert. Never imagined that I would be racing Husqvarna's. The bike is great!
