  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

I forgot this was a sticky thread for so long.

Unsticking now... I am sure they have ordered whatever they intend to order for the first batch.

They've been saying that for a loooong time. Since before the 630 even came into existence. I don't put much stock in what they say anymore.

These things take time. You don't just build a tank in a day. R&D, build ride change etc etc. They have been waiting to get hold of a 630 to try it on. The 630 only went into Australia recently... :)

Not sure how you guys can like any part of that hideous tank...?:bonk:

Its slim (for a big tank) and the fuel is carried low for the most part. Have you tried to race tight woods with a high level fuel tank, the cornering is pretty impossible compared to a stock tank! These tanks are built for racing, Australian Safari, Dakar etc. The advantages to the trail rider are a result of the racing R&D. :)

Some like the functionality of having 4+ gallons. I will be getting one and personally could care less what it looks like.

I know all aboot tight wood buddy! Tits my favorite ;) However Im a street rider and that tank looks like poo. I couldnt agree more with you all that more gas on our bikes would be rad but that shiz looks like shiz, not to mension they didnt even go the final step, put the threadded zerts in the mold so we can cover up the nasty tank with our stock front panneling... :shocked:They would go to all the effort and forget the final detail.

tough choice this one, i had a yellow 30lt safari tank on my suzuki dr650, what a fantastic tank 600kms to a tank :notworthy:. i did however find that when i dropped the big girl in red sand, red clay it would scratch (not easily) and would stain the the scratches. i did my best to get it out but didnt really win. i believe this would probably be a bigger issue on the white tank.

the red tank would look micky mouse and i believe would be harder to stain but i read in this thread that its not quite the right color:excuseme:. another problem with the colored tanks is that you cant see the level in them without taking off the cap and having a look.

being able to see your level in the tank i believe would be an advantage when long distance riding in remote areas as if u get a hole in your tank (don't be fooled these tanks are TOUGH, if u crashed hard enough to pierce these tanks, running out of fuel will be the least of your worries :cripple:) you may have a chance of seeing your level go down and patching the problem before you have to set of your emergency beacon and get search and rescue to come and pick you up. then again if its leaking that much you would hopefully smell it or feel your legs getting wet :p.

just some food for thought

The perforation holes are a little large, the next ones will be smaller. Its not the same size as the OEM decal.

And costs $500! WTF mate! I will wait for someone to sell their used one for $200...and if that day never comes...then I will never have one.

Hi Brock, it looks good, Im with you I think the holes need to be smaller. How does the tank feel on the bike??

I have an IMS tank and I dont like the look of that tank ether, but when you put an extra three litres of fuel and still have to push your bike 200 meters to the fuel pump, you learn to live with the looks. And as for the extra 300 bucks over the life time of the bike is bugger all.

It feels good, its not too fat so you can get forward. Its narrower than stock at the front points!
I had the 28ltr on the DRZ and that monster soon got familiar after 2000miles in Morocco.

I remember seeing Mount Isa on the in flight map going down from HK to Brisbane. It looked a long way from anywhere!

I remember seeing Mount Isa on the in flight map going down from HK to Brisbane. It looked a long way from anywhere! Its 1000 miles from Brisbane and its 600 mile east of Townsville the riding out here is flat desert tracks that why I would like a tank the size semi trailer so i could ride to the next fuel pump
