  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Saw a '10 TE310 yesterday

While at Upstate Cycle in Greenville, SC yesterday, they were putting a 2010 TE310 together.

Not a whole lot different from the '09 model, but the sublimated graphics on the rad shroud are real nice. They look as if the tank is the same as '09, and if so, we should be able to replace the '08/'09 shrouds with the '10 shrouds.

One thing I thought really odd about the bike is that it was shipped w/ Metzeler Karoo tires. What??? Must be a DOT thing as this is a super expensive tire that is usually only found on bikes like a KTM 990 or other big pigs. It's about a 50/50 tire, or basically worthless on a bike like a 310.

If you rember coffee's pics from the Las Vegas dealer meeting, the TE's had Karoo's. TE610's come with them, but worthless on other TE's. You'd think if the went Metzler DOT, they would use the Six Days.:busted:

pirelli makes some all dirt d.o.t. knobbies, mx extra come to mind. My 08 cr came with pirellis ... must of got a good deal on the metz's

That really blows about the Karoos. I saw Coffees pics and was hoping that the factory just put those tires on pre-production bikes. I cant believe that they are going to come with them on full production units.

Looks like I am going to be replacing a lot tires this year...

Make sure you are compensated...changing tires is no fun!

Some of the Dual Sport Husky brothers and sisters like the DOT tires. I had 3 sets that had 0 to 5 miles on them from yanking off new bikes at the outset for the forementioned reasons. They made nice "freebie" givaways at the 08 and 09 NE Husky Gatherings. Took all of 3 minutes to give away 6 tires! Drew Smith even had an "I.S.D.E. parc ferme moment" and quicly mounted them for 1 person whose stockers were very worn. It doesn't get better than that.
