    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Screw type Pitcock saga

My 08 TXC250 just will not cut off the gas from out of the gas tank to the CARB via the screw type pitcock on the tank ... I can get it down to a small trickle but it just does not want to seal off ...

Has anyone else had this issue and fixed it or maybe just looked inside this device? I'm gonna tear into it but as usual, I'll ask about it first :)
 
Just to be clear- if you disconect the fuel line from the carb and have the gas shut off on the petcock- fuel still trickels through the line?
If so- swap it out with a new one.

I assume your float needle and seat are unable to hold this flow back and it drains on the floor- (common) but "perfect" is being able to withstand and stop flow when bike is at rest- could inspect and change o-ring/ needle and seat. But if turning off petcock works and float is working 90% of the time that could be concidered acceptable.
 
I really despise the stock petcock. It's one of my major gripes with the bike. Mine doesn't leak when the bike is standing up... but I've been working on the used rekluse I bought (that I got royally screwed over on) at lot, with the petcock sealed off, fuel flows freely from the vent tube the entire time I have the bike laying on it's side. Sucks.
 
Right, shutting the gas off at the tank will not stop all the gas from trickling into the CARB ... I found this out because the 0-ring that is around the valve seat that is attached to the float valve went bad and I had gas dripping slowing from the CARB after killing the bike ... with or without the gas turned off ...

When I took the tank off, I could not stop the gas from dripping from it ... But I did replace the 0-ring and fixed the CARB leak...

With the 0-ring fix in place, I am not leaking gas anymore but I know the pitcock is not shutting the gas off 100% and would like to fix it but I can't really afford a new one so I was thinking of tearing into this one and seeing what the issue is with it not shutting off the gas ...

And this is not my favorite device either ...
