• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

So I have this massive 1966 Windsor I am using as my daily driver. Love the flying couch and it runs like a top. This was a recent purchase for me as I got it cheap, it is in fantastic shape and only has 62,000 miles****************************************! Fun car, great highway cruiser. Plan is for the wife to sell her Mercedes (we make payments on that car) and drive my turbo Saab (which she likes better and is paid for) and i drive this beast (which i love). As I plan to use it a lot I tossed a tune up on it, adjusted the carb and gave it a good once over. 383ci V8. Cool, runs great. Seems to take a bunch of revolutions to start up and is kind cold blooded and dies once when starting it up and the morning. Not a big deal on ether account and like i said runs and drives fantastic. A Mopar buddy of mine (I ahve always had Chevys) said thats the way Mopars are to some extent and said it is because the float bowls drain back some. Anyway I am not into snake oil but a good friend suggested putting Seafoam in the gas and Marvins Mystery oil in the oil. I have heard good things about both and figured for the $15 it can't hurt. So yesterday I bough both and dumped them in. After about 10-15 miles it seemed like the car idles better and had more throttle response. figured it was mental. This morning I go out to start that car, figured on my start, die, start again ritual and fired right up and idled like a kitten. interesting. Been driving it all over today and it for sure fires up way faster and runs better. Other than these two additives i have not done anything other than re-route the sparkplug wires i installed better, turn the fuel screw on the carb a half turn and check some vacuum lines.

Long story short has anyone used these products and found instant results?

The beast...

Cool car. I have no personal experience, yet, but I plan on getting some sea foam for my streetbikes.

Cool car.

It is far from my first choice (would rather be in a chevy, chevelle or something) but the price was great and the super low miles and condition put me over the top. It's a cool car but kinda grandma. Sure is fun to putt around in, super comfy, great road trip car. Rode the train to get it then drove it 240 miles home so i know it is a GREAT highway car.

I use seafoam in my Husky WB165 with each fill-up. It preserves the gas nicely and my bike starts easily after sitting for a few weeks. Before using the seaform, my bike was hard to start and was sensitive to the fuel quality.

Been using seafoam for years regularly so I can't say it's been instant results, just always clean running. One additive that did provide fairly instant results was Zmax. After I read a recommendation from Gearge @Uptite on unsticking a Husky valve.
About a week after I bought my conversion van I was getting terrible valve lifter noise for the first 5 to 10 minutes of startup. Tried a complete oil & filter change first, no difference. Tried Zmax oil additive on a whim & within a couple days, the noise was gone, never to be heard from again. I'm sold

I use "Seafoam" in my 4 cylinder 1975 Honda Cb550F, seems to help keep her carbs running smooth (few ounces every few tanks of gas) haven't used yet in my te310 but may .

Yep i use sea foam in the boat all the time. Every once in while after it's been sitting for a few months it gets picky about starting and sometimes dies at idle. I just toss in a can of sea foam and inside of twenty minutes running shes back up to snuff again. When I build an engine that isn't going to be run for a while I always shoot a little Marvel mystery oil of Rislone into the cylinders for a preservative, it does a good job of preventing rust without getting thick and waxy.

Iv'e got a redneck buddy and he has put seafoam in everything from lawn mowers to snowmobiles, cars etc...... He swears by it! Joe dirt shirt, haircut and all................

K,
Never used seafoam but have used Marvel Mys oil (years ago). The stuff is a great penetrant/solvent its a very aeromatic solvent oil and breaks up deposits of carbonized oil, frees up lifters and cleans valves of deposits. (Marvel in fuel for the intake valve clean up) just be careful with those old motors, as far as crankcase solvents breaking chunks (like blood clots) off and finding them in oil passages clogging up. (how do I know this?, from my 318 mopar)

That thought did go through my head as I poured it in. Figured i run it for a bit and change the oil and filter.

update. The car for sure fires up quicker, much better in the morning (almost perfect) and does run and idle better. I am a believer.

Seafoam is the shizzle, if I wouldn't die I would drink a bottle and see if it would cure my ails. Try it through the PCV with the car running for valve train cleaning, the smoke out the exhaust is priceless!!

I am 49years old and a third generation auto mechanic ( my father and grandfather mechanics also). We have been in business since 1959. Marvel Mystery oil has been around since my grandfather turned wrenches. I use it as an additive in my fuel for my boats, bikes and vehicles. Just stick to the recommended ratio on the back of the bottle. On an older car like you have with no catalytic converter a little extra dose probably would not hurt. Some have used it in their engine oil to help free up sticking rings or noisy lifters with some sucess. Its not going to fix a worn engine but does wonders for carboned up or varnished from age inside engines. Do not have to use at every tank fill up but maybe every other. We also use seafoam in the shop and it is good stuff also. I had 1 customer that over used Marvel Mystery oil. Car ran great for awhile until spark plugs started to oil foul from too much in fuel..

Not sure what type of fuel you guys have there, but here our regular gas is 10% ethanol. Ethyl alchohol is a poor fuel and does not atomize well flowed thru a carb. Here some aircraft owners use MoGas instead of the standard 100LL AvGas and the alchohol based fuel deteriorates the rubber fuel cells, hoses and seals in the carbs, not too mention those old aircraft engines run poorly. I'm sure it could be why the old 'couch' ran poor until you used the additive.

Yep the Seafoam worked for me too. The day I sold my 04 Aprilia RSV1000 Factory I went to start it after it set a few months (winter) it started and ran like crap on one cylinder (V/twin). I picked up some Seamfoam poured it in and after about 3-4 minutes of rough running it smoothed out so I took it out for a last ride. By the time I got back she was running like new! Now I pour a little in my stuff that sits a while. BTW cool car K.

Sea foam user here. Put it in my lawn mower also. Cleans up the mess after sitting with gas in the tank for weeks. You can feel and hear the mower run better after a few minutes with sea foam.
