    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

I got my Corbin seat because I didn't want to wait five months for the other seat and I haven't been disappointed. :D

Thanks. I'm still leaning towards the Corbin.

Renazco only has two seat covering options, and I don't like either one, suede or vinyl. Suede absorbs water, holds dirt and fades. Vinyl looks good but is too slick. Plus, the anticipated build date for the Renazco is July! I asked specific questions about building my seat the way I preferred it and they did not answer a single one. :confused: They only gave a build date projection.

Do you have one? I have one on my CRF450X and my SM610 and they are so much better that either of the stock seats it's not even close. I can ride either bike all day long with no discomfort and I could not have done that with the stock seats.

I've been on a couple of their seats and couldn't stand them. Combined with troubles a few friends had with them and I won't touch them now. Unless you can ride in and get work done I really wouldn't bother. I couldn't imagine the wait or cost of Renazco so I went with a local upholsterer who rides. Made a very nice all day seat for reasonable money. It's not that complicated so I recommend finding a competent local. Corbin burned quite a few bridges a while back so I personally wouldn't trust them to do the work or get my seat back to me.
 
I'm close enough that I ride in for mine and have never had any problems with them or their seats. Sorry you have, but they have been making very nice seats for a long time.
 
Got my Corbin in today. Looks great. They don't show one for 2008 - 2009 model so I ordered one for a 2007. lt work fine with a few minor mods. Can't understand why Corbin doesn't do these little things to make it fit the '08/'09. :confused:

I need to make a clip for the front that is 4mm longer, and file a little bit off the back rubber cushions. I found a Simpson Strong Tie at Lowes that is perfect for the front clip. There is also interference with a bolt sticking out of the rear fender. I just removed the bolt. It does not appear to serve any function. Another option would be to grind a recess in the underside of the seat pan for it to fit over the bolt. Total mod time for me will be less than an hour.

To get the corbin on my '08-

One good sized washer

Then, remove the fastener, turn it upside down, pop-rivet, done

I used a 3/8"x 1-1/4" fender washer underneath the aluminum spacer then four smaller 3/8" washers underneath that. The smaller washers have the same outside diameter as the top flange of the aluminum spacer. They add up to the same depth and keep the large fender washer tight against the top flange of the spacer.

Then I removed the clip from the seat and put a single washer between the clip and the seat at each bolt. This lowered the clip a little. It was riding just a tad too high. I also pushed the clip all the way forward. The fit is very secure against the washers on the tank. The front does not move at all left or right, up or down.

The rubber cushions on the back part of the seat are a little too thick and making it hard to fasten the back down. Dremel to the rescue. I shaved about 1/16" off each one.

One last little mod - the brass spacer on the rear fender has to be removed and replaced with a small flat-head bolt.

It's done. Can't wait to go riding :ride: What I like the most about the Corbin is the low profile. I don't believe Renazco can make one this thin. I'm 5'-9" and the bike that I tried out with a Renazco was too tall. The Corbin is actually lower than the stocker. Besides, it sure beats waiting 5 months.

I love the grippy "asphalt" textured seat cover. No sliding around. It feels just like the gripper tape that I use on the sides of the tank - like a very course sandpaper.

I just had my seat done by a local shop - Bitchen Stitchen -
They fit me to the seat and had me ride the bike a couple of times and make adjustments.

The seat came out fantastic!

They reused the stock cover and added a second material to the sides where the seat was widened.

The seat has been flattend in the center and where my butt sits but rounded where my legs are to make it more comfortable.

it's a bit taller to lessen the dip but with round edges I can still touch the ground about the same as stock.

They used a slightly softer foam on the top but firm on the sides

and they did it all while I waited! (I had made an appointment 3 weeks earlier)

I like it a lot

They just did it yesterday so only about 30 miles so far :ride:

it won't be a touring seat but it will be a lot better than stock for my purpose.
I bought this bike as a dual sport / adventure bike not a racer trail basher.
