• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Service charges

I find it's best to check the oil after a ride to ensure the oil is at operating temp as oil expands quite a lot. From a cold start, if you check using the prescribed method, stick your finger in the tank to check the oil temp - it's relatively cool.

Another reason for the $400 service; to allow the dealer to recoup their investment on having to buy the MOSS tool for a small population of bikes in your area. That's life.
You
you must have thin fingers.

Whats with these Australian mechanics that cant get the oil level right.....Mine $280 ($40 filter, $60 oil and the rest labour). I had to take mine in twice to get some taken out. The second time I had to show them how to do it correctly (i.e they were doing it on the sidestand). They gave me $10 for the extra oil that they used, even though I used $8 in fuel for 2 round trips. Not looking foward to the 10k service price.
headin to Scotts up the top of the island for my 10k service. still have to get the muppets to put the new waterpump seals in though. Husky Au wouldnt let me change dealers for my claim as motorworks first put the claim in.
lucky you got 10bucks
I told them Ill send them a invoice for my time they have wasted. you can only imagine the response

My first service was free of charge...as are all my oil changes and other scheduled service. I bought the optional 5 yr warranty and service plan tho.. Added about 2k in price of the bike. But worth it to me.

Mine is ready for the 10,000 Km service. There are two shops that I can find in the area of So. California that I live in that can perform the service. One is $600.00 US and the other is $650.00. That's a pretty good bite twice a year.
