• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

skid plate and crash bar - compatibility

v12gte

Husqvarna
A Class
The pics are not clear enough to determine if there would be interference between the skid plate and the crash bars. Anyone has both mounted? Of either brand?

I already have the Motosportz skid plate mounted, and now need to choose between the crash bars (sw mototech or altrider). Does the altrider crashbar clear the mounting point for the skid plate? The Sw-Mototech looks more risky, in terms of interference at its mounts.

Not sure, but I am supposed to be getting the ALTrider crash bars when they ship, latest ship date was early June I believe.

And I already have the Motosporz skid plate... so if you can wait a bit I could report back.

the sw mototech ship date is "second week of June" due to backlog at twisted throttle. Thanks for the ETA on the altrider ones, although I am not yet in the queue. The altrider mount looks higher, but I will wait to see how the install went, and try not to fall off in the meantime. Thanks in advance.
:)

You might be able to learn more about the sw-motech side of things by reviewing their install instructions for both the skid plate and the crash bars. Their crash bars have an extra set of spacers that are to be used when there is no skid plate, or removed when there is. This is to make their stuff work right together, but that spacer scheme may be enough to allow the motorsportz plate to work. I doubt it, the motosportz skid plate is a beast.

I think you should convince Kelly to take the best attributes of the fab one up, Kenneth Webb, sw-motech, and alt rider designs and come out with motosportz crash bars that are compatible with his skid plate.

Yes, best option would be to strong arm Kelly, but i will fall off by then! The instructions for the German piece show the second hole from the bottom, also used by the skidplate. If the optional sw mototech spacer is roughly the same thickness as the sides of the skidplate....the bold should be long enough to tie everything together !

Nobody has their SW-Tech skid plate yet...or Altrider Crash Bars.

Well except M33 in Poland has had his SW stuff for awhile.:D

I got my skidplate yesterday, still waiting on my Alt crash bars... if I could figure out how to install the plate it would be on already and pictures for you to see... I did notice in the instructions they will mount to the same center piece of the frame.

I decided to grab my place in line and ordered the SW crash bars. Shipping out June 21, which is later than they said, but I can hopefully return them to twisted throttle, if I cannot make them fit with the Motosporz bash plate.

Looks like the SW-Motech skid plate and ALTRider crash bars will work well together. The ALTRider crash bars forward mount are on the upper frame therefore they don’t share the same mounting point to the frame.

Does anyone have any idea if the Ricochet Skid Plate will work with the AltRider crash bars?

I'm quite sure that the Altrider bars will work with any skid plate. It doesn't bolt to any of the two lower engine mounts. Instead they made their own bracket/clamp doohickey that will clear any skid plate. I have the B&B FWIW.

Thanks.

btw, I had the same haircut as you a few years back.
