• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Skid Plate Options

wow GREAT JOB, the best skid plate.. the best protection from stones coming. What about cooling?.. and noising?

I surprisingly don't find it louder than without it. Figured it would reflect some sound but have not noticed it yet. This motor does not seem to make a lot of mechanical noise. As for cooling I have never had an issue nor do I now so no idea.

the new SW Motech has changed engine sound, now is metalic sound; no vibes, but I prefer last one, before installing Skidplate. I used to hear mufflers, and now does not exit.. maybe has something to do with no holes underground skidplate.. No diferent noise with o without sikdplate in my last HONDA NX650.

Hello guys, somebody who install SW MOTECH Skidplate, has used some foam between engine and skid plate to get the original engine noise, again??
Could report what kind of foam o system has used to recover stock noising..!!
Thanks.. I tried moving diferent pieces of foam diferents places, but no working properly yet.

I took and added a few bits of rubberhose between engine and skid plate. You can experiment with different sizes of tubing.

Thanks, i will try, any special kind of rubber to evoid melted rubber.?. could you post a photo to see your rubber positions.

This is disappointing. While I can understand a snafu by itself...it's already after a 2 month delay from when I first ordered it. I'll wait patiently a bit longer for their reply....and reassess then. Meanwhile, I'll hold off on some other AltRider bits I was thinking about. They make great products, they're in my back yard, but if they keep having fulfillment issues...I hope they get it sorted out quickly.
Follow-up to this:

I hadn't heard anything from the supposed August 5th date and made two calls yesterday. Suffice it to say I was a bit unimpressed with AltRider's response (albeit it was a receptionist and not necessarily a manager) when I said I had an order through Revzilla. They seemed eye roll through the phone about Revzilla.

Sensing friction I quickly realized I should have called Revzilla first since I did order with them and not AltRider directly. I thanked them and called Revzilla.

The Revzilla response was generally nicer, focused on getting me the product, and didn't dwell on AltRider.

I just asked they send me an e-mail with an update when they could. So.......in early evening I found an e-mail in my Inbox with a Fedex shipping number that says my AltRider skid plate will be delivered this afternoon! So, they seem to be next daying. Very much unexpected, but nice touch Revzilla. :applause:

Looking forward to installing it tonight or tomorrow. Once installed my journey to Terra-fication will be almost complete. Only a front spoked rim to sort out.

And the installation went easily and AltRider plate is seriously pimp. Black anodized to go with the Strada black them. One zip tie to move the clutch cable slightly and now enjoy substantially more protection to the bottom bits of the motor and oil line.

Man, you guys need to cut AltRider some slack...this is a great looking skid plate with the most protection (including the brake, drain plug, case and hoses) that I have seen (maybe the B&B but with better air circulation)...yes there have been production delays, and an issue with the crash bar, but keep in mind that this is a limited production bike...not a huge return for any manufacturer. I am just thankful that we have seen the aftermarket support that we have.

wow.. Even much better proteccion than SW-MOTECH. It looks great.
Best purchase..and it looks thicker than SW.
