• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Skidplates that work with centerstand?

Hi gang. I need to get a skidplate for my Terra, but I also have the SW Motech centerstand. I did see on this forum that a Ricochet plate will work with the stand, but I was wondering if you guys new of any others.

Also, as far as I can tell, it looks like just about any of the crash bars will mount up fine regardless of the skidplate being used. Am I wrong?

Time to start farkling a bit! :)

The SW-Motech crash bars will interfere with the Ricochet skid plate. You simply need to trip off a bit of the skid plate.

Thanks for the comments, everyone.

So it seems the centerstand won't be a problem for a skidplate, but the crash bars might be. Opposite of what I expected. I really like the look of the SW Motech crash bars and intend to get those. Though I like the "big hunk of metal" look of the Ricochet skidplate (and the great price on those too, wow!), I wouldn't want to trim it and expose the bare aluminum just to get it to work with the SWM crash bars. I like the Happy Trails skidplate for the same reason I like the Ricochet - it looks really substantial - but just looking at pics, it appears I'd probably have to trim it as well. If anyone knows different, please let me know! Otherwise, I'll probably just get the SWM skidplate as well just to make sure I don't have any fitment issues with the crash bars.

The Ricochet skidplate is just a big hunk of bare aluminum. If you are wanting to order it coated, then that's another issue. If you really want it coated, then I would order it bare, cut it to fit the SW Motech bars and then take it to a powder coater afterwards. It should only cost about $30 for coating. You will probably also want to add some sound deadening to the top of the skid plate because it resonates a lot of sound.
