• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

SM conversion NOW WITH PICS

1. was this spacer a husky item? I have a full set from an 07 SM510 and the front wheel is not centered and the axles/spacers that came with them are the same as my 610's from all measurements I took. I may just need a 1/8" wider spacer made/bought.

2. I am using a 320mm rotor and getting the caliper bracket from Husky, so not too worried there.

Nice ride!

No not a Husky item, I ended up making my own spacers for the axel and the caliper. I really think that the wheel was laced up with the wrong offset but the spacers were a quick fix and there doesn't seem to be any adverse effects.

Thanks, I will ask the dealer when I take the bike in soon for an EFI tune and order the caliper reloc bracket for the front. Thanks.

OK guys and gals, here's the finished product. Thanks Kelly for helping me round up some parts and thanks to everyone else for there input.
There are a few things to be aware of when doing this conversion.
1. The offset on the SM rim is slightly different than that on a TE so the front spacer needs to be about 1/8" wider to center the wheel and yes the wheel has to be perfectly centered because there isn't much room between the sliders.

Okay, I decided to remount my front 17 to do some more looking. I have 07 510SMR wheels, axles, spacers, rotors, etc. I measure my 610 axle and spacer and it is the same as the 510's in every way. Looks like my findings are the opposite of yours.

My wheel is offset ~1/8" (hard to tell really) to the NON rotor side. So my wheel is offset the OTHER way. So I will need to take OFF ~1/8" of the spacer. hmmm I really appreciate your findings and sharing it with us.

A pic from the back side, you can see it's offset the opposite direction as you state yours was.

I had the same problem with my 610 conversion. You need to start on the brake side, that spacing to the fork needs to be perfect with the rotor dead center of the caliper.Tie a rag around the brake lever to hold it in place and check your spacer clearance to the inside of the fork.I had to make a spacer about .060 wider than the one I had. Then adjust the one on the other side and be sure not to squeeze your forks together, they need to be 'relaxed' when the axle is tight.

Thanks. I am still waiting on my caliper relocation bracket for the 320 rotor, so until then I am on hold
