    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Sm610 - Efi Vs Carb

Anyone ridden a carb'd 610 and then an efi 610?
I have both and the efi is gutless!!!
It has a pipe and the factory resistor in place for the "race" map but it's crap. Apparently "it (efi bike) goes great" and is "heaps better than the carbied model" said another owner of an efi 610 who rode it. That was until he got on the 06!
The 09 rides nice and is so smooth.
The 06 is faster with my Mrs on the back than the 09 with just me! To top it off the 06 has much taller gearing!

So I just want to know if anyone has ridden them back to back?

Brings back memories of the mid 90's when we made more peak power with 45's or 48's than with efi.
 
Have a 06 sm carbed and a 09te efi---My 610te has a Arrow pipe and the power up kit has been done --the 06sm has the stock pipe and just the needle jet has been done --only got the 06 sm three weeks ago.

Have ridden them back to back and i must say my 06sm feels like a overweighted whale compared to the te. But i can feel the potential deep down once i gut the pipe and get the JD Carb kit installed --- My 610te can lift the front wheel till 3rd gear without even using the clutch just close throttle hit the back brake--release the brake pull on the bars and whack it hard --lift off.

On the other hand i can not say the same for my carbed 610 sm --but i know i can get it there --will keep you updated.

Now if only i could get my 610sm to run like my 634 smr then i will be in Huskie Heaven:)-- not likely
 
I've ridden both quite a lot over the years and would agree the carb fed bike feels a lot sharper. The EFI was fitted primarily for emissions compliance and although Husqvarna don't quote power figures I believe it lost 4-5bhp in standard form. In a very unscientific comparison on the same stretch of road the EFI bike maxed out 8mph slower than I'd seen on the 06 bike.

I'd also suggest the EFI smoothes out the power delivery compared to an accelerator pump carb which makes the later bikes feel slower than they are. The 'hit' when you crack the throttle isn't there with the EFI but I don't think there is much actual power difference in the mid range.

I can now tell you that it isn't just feel the 06 destroys the 09 everywhere! A mate quickly rolled them up at lunch and said the 06 had the 09 throught out the rev range except just off idle. Seems the 09's a little lean but not to bad but the 06 is very rich. He said there is a fair bit still in the 06!
Might just put my spare FCR on the 09
 
I just got an 06 SM610 and it has a dead spot (especially in 1st & 2nd gear) when I wind it out. Don't know if it's a valve floating or the carb crapping out. I haven't pushed it that hard. The tach will reach the top bar and make a right 1 or 2 bars. Don't even know what the bars represent? I'm getting a lot of backfiring when I'm downshifting too. The exhaust is a Barrett straight thru carbon. The bike should pull a lot harder than it does. Maybe you could hip me to what's going on? You seem to know what's going on with the carb version.
