• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

SMR plastics compatibillity

Hey guys,
i sent my bike over a cliff 3 weeks ago in Cape TOWN, 2007 SMR450.
Im starting opperation rebuild. Anyone know if 2008/9 plastics will fit my bike? I really like the smaller quarter pannels at the back and they cemetrical both sides (for the dual arrow pipe). Would love to get a set of those on mine. Any info? thanks

Hey bud,

I used 2010 wr plastics from ebay uk. Expensive but transformed the look of my SMR.

I also removed the tank and grey panels and brakecleend them then used "forever black" bumper and trim dye, I also sanded them with a fairly rough grit. Transformed the look of the bike from 1990's to brand new looking. Pictured I also used a ktm headlight and fenderectomy so the things didn't flop around when stunting a bit :)

Just some ideas, but the 2 smoker plastics fit fantastically.

Wow man that looks really cool, nice and different. Are your quarter panels chopped or are they that shape stock?love the Ktm headlight, I've always wanted that from set up on my bike. Will upload a pic of my bike before crash later, my 'grey pannels' and tank are already black- think from 2007 they came out stock like that with black rims, before that was grey tank and radiator panels and silver wheels.very cool looking bike, sick rims!

I swapped the plastics and seat on my 07 SM510R with 2012 WR 300. Rear fender is obviously different because my WR had no taillight.

checked out pics of the wr300 but the plastics look the same as the smr 07?im really wanting the smaller quarter pannels but the subframe is different on newer models so probably wont fit.

Just cut down the rear panels. Takes 5 minutes. Tape a line. Put a cut off wheel from a dremel on a cordless drill, cut the desired shape going slowly. File the edge, toss on black door edge rubber protector stuff on with a heat gun! Looks pro and is easy. I did this on my smr above to show off my custom powdercoated white stock slip on, and to make it look more modern/unique. Also made getting on and off easier as with the stubby rear my mx boot can swing around the back :-)

Just wondering if you knew if the newer plastics will fit my smr450 2005? Also did you have to use a ktm front fender with the ktm headlight? Thank you for your help.

You must use ktm fender/headlight as a pair, the headlight pushes down into the fender....works great. Zip ties hold the top of the headlight to the bars.

Newer plastics might fit, I used the 2010 2 stroke plastics with moulded graphics and cut them down.
