  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

SMR510 front tyre?

HSMRDave

Husqvarna
B Class
Hi all, I am looking for a super sticky front tyre for my 08 SMR510. I only ride in the dry, and the bike is only a toy, so mileage is really not an issue.
I did try a set of Maxxis street sport Ultra's on it, but it was dreadfully unstable, and suffered from a "Death Wobble" at anything over 60MPH. As a result I bought another OE Dunlop D253 for the rear, and re-fitted the original D253 front.
I want a front tyre that will allow me to push the front hard without worrying that it will wash out on me:thumbsup:
I have heard Avon PXR fronts work well in the dry ( although I don't know anyone who has tried one on an SMR510), although they are a rain tyre. I have also considered a road legal cut slick, but I am a bit concerned that the stability will suffer with one of those due to their profile ie..120/80.
Any suggestions would be great.

Dave

I use Pirelli supercorsa's. Med compound for the rear and soft compound for the front. A little pricey, but worth it to me.

any stability issues with supercorsas? do you run them with tubes or tubeless setup?

I use tubes, no problems. I would run them for the twisties and on the occasional road course track day. I absolutely hated the stock Dunlops.
