• Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Anyone in southern Oregon? If so, I'm pretty new to riding, but would love to meet some folks to ride with on the weekends. Also been trying to ride some singletrack at night.

No, but ride there a lot... Well, depending on what you call Southern... I ride in the Roseburg / Canyonville area about 4 times a year. Where are you located?
 
There's a member on here that lives in Jackson that I have spoken to before, but I forget his screen name. He's part of the MRA club and that would be a great resource for riding buddies IMO.

Thank you for the suggestion. I looked at the MRA site and the posts are ancient. I may post a note though. How stupid is riding alone? With a PLB? Thanks

I love to solo ride, but I'm a rather large risk taker. Some folks probably couldn't fathom the idea of being 20+ miles in the sticks with no cell reception, but to me it's one of life's pleasures. I just slow it down and enjoy the trip instead of flying through it like most group rides.

That's me too. I without a doubt ride solo more than in a group. I think you get more of a sense of where you are.
 
I really appreciate the suggestions. It seems like when I do ride with other people it always turns into a race. Someone always goes home with something damaged (bodies, bikes, egos etc.). We have amazing hiking trails in Briggs valley which are legal to ride on, but my buddies never want to go because without a fire road, how can a guy really rip?! Tomorrow night...a note to my wife, warm clothes, my light on and miles of single track. But if you read about a motorcycle rider bleeding out in the forests of southern Oregon, it's your fault! Lol! Thanks again.

Steve DeGuyter owns a business in GP... Battery Stuff... he is an MRA guy and also an OMRA officer. Check in with him and see if he can give you any tips...
 
I actually do a lot with the MRA; put on a XC (but never get my worker points :D) and the Dual Sport. We're re-starting our club ride the Sunday after the monthly meetings, haven't done them for a few years.

New to the area,and new to husky. If its got two wheels and a motor I'm into it . :D Traded my roadstar for a 08 te 450 love,love,love IT! I raced 125 class when i was young, but at 44 I'm into chekin out the old cabin or getting to the top of a mountain and seeing what i see. I'm not far from you,just out side of jacksonville on sterling creek.

I'm in your neck of the woods on sterling creek. New to the area and new to husky. Traded my roadstar for 08 te450 , love it to death:applause: . I used to TIG weld for a living (going to try it from my house) and will try to make the bike more adv ridding friendly..ie....more gas....darkar type fairing...ect.

Im going to the vintage bike club meeting today. I broke my back changing tires on the husky....I put prelli mt 43's on and now its way to tall for me, 3/4 " taller :mad: . I gues i will put the dirt tires back on. If I can get it done when i get back ..maybe a dirt ride sunday? its looking like good weather:applause:
 
Rode Saturday and Sunday, great traction! Rode the Husky both days, put the Rekluse back in and I like the setting I did. Wednesday Night MRA meeting, try and make it. I don't have a vintage street bike, so I don't go to those meetings, I have a 1999 Buell X1 Lightning! :cool:
 
Well its friday and i got my dirt tires back on. I can touch the ground again.:) I plan on going to the meeting . I have also started working on a rack out of aluminum for the husky that will be able to hold a lot of weight and not stress the sub frame . Was hoping to go for a ride up wood rat ...but woke up to that white stuff on the ground .:mad: Cheers .
