  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Spark Arrestor

I have a 2005 TE 450 with what looks like the stock exhaust. The bike had 2 previous owners. The rivets around the end look original.

Would I be able to see a spark arrestor screen, or something else, if I look with a light into the end of the exhaust? The side of the pipe says it has a spark arrestor. When I look inside I don't see a screen. About a 1/3 of the way in the opening appears to dip down into another section of the pipe. Do I have a spark arrestor now or not? Thanks.

Not sure if they are the same but on my 07 the screen is almost at the front of the can (stock also). A bit tough to see.
However if one of the rangers has a bright enough flashlight they can find it. Only took three of them and I had to loan them the light. :D

you can check the parts catalog and see if its a factory made for USA part, if so S/A should be part of it. Also all the OEM S/A pipes have forestry dept stamp or embossed approval note on the muffler itself.
On my 06 TE450 OEM was approved, but I installed a non S/A 04 TC Ti system and used a ProCircuit S/A attachment and custom installed the screen in my pipe
