• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Speedo Headlight Blinkers Horn Dead WTF

I had my instrument cluster go dead off and on today, finally dead. Also lost my headlight, blinkers, and horn. At least the starter and kill switch work, LOL. Looked for a thread on this but didn't see any. It is the 630, about 3200 miles on the bike. I don't know if it might be a loose connection or a fuse? Don't have a good selection of tools where I am at, but I do have internet! So thought I would do some searching on here before I run home tomorrow.

I saw where some of the 610's required a reset, but I thought the 630 was a different instrument, plus all the other things not working. They did come on a few times during the ride, so I am thinking loose connection, just wondering if anyone else has seen this already?

Thanks

It sounds like a loose connection, chaffed or broken loom. On the latter, my bike was delivered in such a state that I had to go through it from one end to the other to avoid problems down the track.

The best I can suggest is to go through it very carefully with a wiring diagram and a test light or multimeter.

I'm thinking it is in the Speedo unit itself, which seems to be more than just that (like a control unit, a lot of wires going in). I diconnected the battery, that didn't work. Fuse is fine. Everything is working at the moment, but not when you first turn the ignition on, but after you start the bike. Low fuel light stays on, blinkers operate, but much faster than normal, horn is working, but can't hear it with earplugs in, very faint.
Tried all the connections up front, all seem good. Haven't taken the tank off to see if there are any connections under there.
I thought I saw where someone else had strange problems with the speedo unit? I would take it to the dealer, but they are 3 hours away, and the warranty is up (May)

I agree!
The speedo has nothing to do with the operation of the headlight/blinkers/horn.
