  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Husqvarna
B Class
2008 TE 250. Retired enduro B rider. All I am doing is going trail riding in PA. Rocks, roots, single track with connector roads.

Bike has a 13/50 combo on it. I feel 1st gear is a little to tall. Have not had it out of my little back yard loop but I notice even in the tight woods I am always in 2nd or 3rd. 1st is almost useless. Even in the rock piles I am in 2nd.. I also feel the RPM is too high at back road connector speeds.(35 is around 5000,5500 rpm).

is anybody running 14/50's on the TE250? Not sure if the 14 will fit and get the cover back on. plus my tire is already within 1/2- 3/4" from the swing arm (4.00X18 trials tire). 14 might be a little too much.
How about 13/48?

I just put a 14 on my '08 510, and it fit with zero problems. No additional chain needed either.

No more 4th gear power wheelies though.....bummer.

I'm in the same boat as I have an 08 TE 250 with 13/50 gearing. 1st gear is good for crawling but that's about it. I've been wanting to get a 48 back sprocket for quite some time now. I've been waiting until I wore out or bent my sprocket, but that hasn't happened yet. I would also like to hear from others who may have 13/48 gearing and how it performs in the trails.

I've used the 14-50 combo on both my TE250 and TXC250 at various times for 1000's of km.
For varied riding(everything from tight rocky singletrack to back roads) it's the best compromise given the limitations of the tranny ratios.

First ride with the 14th indicates it's the hot setup for my type riding.
It spread the gears out some, turned 1st gear into usable and sort of mellowed the lower RPM for tractability.
If your coming off a big bore mellow 4 stroke you will like this modification. If your coming off a 2 smoke you might think it's boring.
