  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Stall on deceleration 2007 450smr

Husqvarna
I recently purchased a 2007 450 SMR and got to ride it through canyons (50miles) no problems, but when i tried to leave the starbucks it shut off on me(slight decline). It took a couple pushes of the starter and it started.

The next day i got about 10 miles from home and as i rolled to a light it shut off when i pulled the clutch in. this time it took a solid minute of freaking out and starter pressing to get it to life. i got to the next light and it shut off again. this time no start, so i proceeded to push it about a mile uphill to a buddies. about 2 hours later another buddy came to get me and as i went to show him what happened it started fine.

my exhaust was popping quite a bit on decel, more than usual, and died as the clutch was disengaged.

Its carb'ed so im super lost on what direction to go any help or ideas would be much appreciated

Thanks

1. Are you sure you are not out of gas. the stopping is giving time for splashing to refill a bit?
2. Is your black choke knob pushed in fully, also your red hot start knob pushed in fuilly?
3. Does your idle speed vary as it warms up?
4. Look for intake manifold vacuum leaks.

This sounds like your bike is pulling a vacuum in the tank. Make sure it's able to suck air in.

As a test you can try to unscrew your fuel cap when it stalls. If it does psssshhh! and fires right up again when starting you've found the issue.

has gas although low but not needing reserve yet
black and red choke are fully in
idle is steady

yeah after the fact i thought to unscrew the cap but that was hours later when the bike already started.

if the manifold is good, i guess i just need to keep the tank relatively full

clean the carb and reassemble it, it probably has contaminants in it from using pump gas.
ethanol in the fuel now a days is causing a lot of problems.

The carb boot from the carb to the head has been known to de laminate. This won't cause the stalling, but might be the source of your excessive popping. Remove the carb and clean it like MXrider says, and while you have it off remove the carb to head rubber boot and inspect that too.
