  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

starter recall on xlites

I just bought my 2013 TE310. I asked the dealer about the recall and he said the work has already been done one the bike. There are already a few reasons that I have to not trust him...does anyone know how I can visually verify if the upgrade has been accomplished?
Thanks

Apparently this only involved early 2012 bikes as per recalled serial numbers in a bulletin in this thread.

Internal, don't see how you could verify.

The recall was only required with specific VINs. My buddys just bought 3 TE310s. Only 1 needed the update.

2013 txc 250 vin # 1 to #223.2013 txc 310 vin # 1 to #261.2013 te 310 vin #1 to #203.
Note only 2013 models.

I'm just passing this along and don't have access to the bulletin but have seen these numbers.

My POS husky is a 2011 TE310 I have had electrical starting issues since the beginning and it's back again. The dealer replaced all these parts last year and my concern is that they used parts that have now been recalled. I have been so pissed with this bike that I have just tossed into the corner of the garage and just started riding my KTM 990 adventure more. Is there anyway to check the parts themselves to tell if they are the ones that are recalled or should I just be moving on from Husky and buy another Yamaha?

There is no way to tell they just hardened the gears and look alike,he could show you the take out ones as they are held for warranty inspection. We modified the decomp springs on 2011 and 2012 models and set decomp valve clearance at .005 really helps, also we have had the starter wound heavier wich is about $245 exchange wich also helps durability.
