• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Stewart Joins Yoshimura Suzuki

I knew Suzuki had no money, why else would metcalfe be the number #1.
James is so frustrated by his performance of late he may turn that into a burning desire to win which is what he needs.

Maybe, but speaking as an old guy, once the fire is gone, bubble popped, or how ever you want put it, once it is gone, it never comes back the same as when you were a teenager or even just proving yourself in the beginning ...Many times trying to relive the past is a bad idea ...

Did his TV show get canceled?

The following paragraph reeks with BS or was it pre-written?... 1) Nobody rides for free ... 2) "Hell yeah, I want to race outdoors." ... He hid from MX since 08 other than that feeble attempt 2 yrs back for MXdN ... 3) He does not have a contract yet, but he is risking the future contract by racing the outdoors? ... Everyone always cries " I can't do that race because I might get hurt and ruin my upcoming season' ... 4) I just made plenty of money (for nothing really)... Usually not what you say to your new employer...

This sounds like a teenager talking to another teenager (teenagers are the target audience for the sport?) and he makes SUZ sound like total butt kissing idiots ... Vintage Stew smack talk really ...

I hope he does well enough to keep the season somewhat alive ... Maybe A. Short picks up the pace and wins a race or two ...

Well, you're riding this summer for free. You have nothing to prove but what message are you trying to send?
I'm not trying to send any message. Actually, what it comes down to is that I love racing motorcycles. I made a lot of money. I still make a lot of money. To me, like, when I came to Suzuki I asked them, "Can you do what I want to do? Can you give me a motorcycle? Can you give me a team? Can you guarantee me those for the next few years?" And they did.

And then they said, "Do you want to race outdoors?" I was like, "Hell yeah, I want to race outdoors." They said, "You know we can't pay you, no bonuses or anything like that?' I told them, "I don't care. I love racing motorcycles, I just left making a lot of money, I just want to race."
Yeah, I am racing for free when it comes to factory Suzuki. My contract doesn't start with those guys until January and that doesn't bother me one bit. I could really care less.

Stewie didn't gel with the new Yamaha design. That's not to say others can't, but it didnt' work for him. He was fast on it, won on it, but crashed a lot on it. He wasn't able to ride at the level he wants to and can ride. That said, at his level, crashes aren't exactly rare, but let's face it, his crash rate skyrocketed on the new Yamaha.

I think he's racing outdoors to prove he hasn't lost it. Both to the public and to himself. I think he's finally on a bike he feels comfortable on and is truly excited to ride again. He didn't just look fast at Hangtown... he looked GOOD. I think part of why he's racing "for free" is to help Suzuki. They gave him an out from Yamaha and he's giving back. He can. He doesn't need the money.

Two motos isn't really enough to say the page has been turned, but it sure is a heck of great start. Would he have won if RV or CR were there? Who knows? I'm sure he'd have been in the thick of it, though.

After all the injuries and crashes, that's got to sap your confidence and get you down. Stewie needed a new bike and he needed to win. He's got both now and is headed in the right direction. He can stay focused and keep doing better or he can get overconfident and blow it. I'm hoping the former of course. Who doesn't love a good comeback story?

I hope RD can step it up a bit to make the battles a bit more interesting. He's riding well, but he needs to up his game a bit to compete at the top level.

Man, I'd almost forgotten how much more I like to watch MX than SX. REAL TERRAIN! Ok, it's a manufactured course, but it goes over actual hills and terrain. Even the first race was over a much more rugged course than the well groomed SX tracks are for the first heats.

Congrats on kicking ass at Hangtown, Bubba! It's good to see you back in good form and happy to be riding.

I was going to jump back in here and delete that in case others have not seen the final results... oops to late. Not a huge fan of JS but think anyone who can ride at that level is amazing and more top level racing is always fun to watch. IMHO if he was chasing CR and RV it might not look so smooth and confident. Who knows. Still, game on, his to loose now.

If JS wasn't in the mix right now the talent at the tp would be diluted. RV, CR, and a couple others injured and recovering.

It was pretty exciting to see Dungey, Stewart, Allessi, and short, all within a few bike lengths mixing it up....fast track...

It is just one race. Stewart will be good just as I have said he would be. But so will Dungey, it will be a battle.

These are all very good racers but not of RV2 or js caliber ... Maybe RD5 can step up but if not, js will win it all if he does not crash it away ... He'd do the same thing on the yammerhammer against this level of competition ...

Yep ..SX is just man-made jumps with a bermed corner ... over and over ... toss in a rhythm section and you have a track .. fun to watch but very redundant ... skill level and bike levels are much lower than MX ...

In RCs last season, he and JS went lap after lap side by side at Washougal....some of the best racing Ive ever seen. In the end RC slipped that day, tumbled while scrubbing off a jump and handed JS the win. I look forward to a repeat; with RD replacing RC alongside JS....but I want it to go all the way to the line ... no falling and giving the win the the other guy.

In the last RD-RV matchup at Washougal RG had the advantage primarily due to having better suspension setup IMHO. Now JS is on the Suzuki....and I think he has the advantage. Could be a great MX season.

I also thought JS looked smooth on the Suz. Even when chasing for the lead or fighting off RD he did not get super squirly. As rough as the track was this weekend compared to all the SX races he should have crashed 6-7 times. Time will tell if he has the consistency. But, then again, he did outlast many of the quys in SX who are supposed to be more composed and patient (CR, TC, and even RD). All the top contenders are sitting on the couch while JS has a shot at stealing the MX crown.

I was never a JS fan until after RC retired. I hope he dominates for a few years, stay out of trouble and matures into a new role on the sidelines. Things will be interesting when JB joins the SX field and hopefully all the contenders are healthy, especially if JS wins the outdoors.

If you want to talk about a stupid racer, then let's shift our attention to Casey Stoner who is retiring from MotoGP in the prime of his carrier while dominating the field. He will retire and try to come back when it is too late. At least JS has a good 2-3 years to prove himself.

Barcia is a punk. He couldn't pass Bagget, so he made an obvious attempt to slam him right off the track. But the dipshit MISSED!

If he pulls that shit on Stewie, he's in for an awakening... Bubba gonna pwn BamBam. Barcia's gonna be Loki to Stewart's Hulk... (if you've seen The Avengers, then you get the reference... if not, go see it!)

Stoner is retiring because he hates all the rules changes and especially CRT.

PS: Yay Stewie! Love a come back story.
Plus have you ever looked at that old video of him scubbing from way back?
It was in the middle of a race and the announcer was left without words. Full on rodeo move. The kid has the talent.

Lots of talent...I'm a JS fan from way back...he sure got off on the right foot...Im going to round 2 this Saturday...It seems like JS is having fun. The interviews of late have been light...he's smiling...seems like the old JS of past...I hope he wins again this week....

That was a nice pass by Baggett at the end of one moto. Just pinned it around the outside line and got by (I think) 2 of the 3 riders in front of him, then picked off Barcia at the end.

Not to stray from topic but ... that Senna Documentary is very, very, very good ... and there's a documentary called something like "F1 the Deadly Years" which details the politics and such which killed a lot of drivers in the 60's and 70's which is also very good.

Back on topic - Stewart looked much more relaxed - and fast as always . I expected the KTM to do better on the rough outdoor tracks - and the 250's looked good (I love watching Marvin M ride) but Dungey looked uninspired. Alesi, of all people, impressed me.

I am always amazed at how fast the 250fs are compared to the 450s. In SX I understand, because they have a better track, but not in MX. Anyone know the average HP of the 250s and 450s in MX/SX?

JS

Stewart was about as fast on his PC KX125 as on anything. Lap times at Washougal was right on the fastest 450's. It's the rider.
