• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Stony (Stonyford) is burning...But Rehab Is Right Around The Corner!

Hey, folks! For those of us that love riding at Stonyford and are missing it terribly, here is our chance to give back to the place that has given us so much joy over the years. If you can't make the Oct 20th date there will be other work days on Nov. 17th, Dec. 15th, and Jan. 19th. I rode through Stonyford a few weeks ago and posted some photos at the end of this post of what it looks like now. It was devastating to see what's happened to one of my favorite riding areas, but there is always renewal after fire and I remain hopeful. As an added plus, the Orionids Meteor Shower will be peaking that night so come on out and enjoy the show!

Mendo NF Mill Fire Rehab VOLUNTEER DAY, 10am-4pm Saturday, Oct. 20

Mendocino National Forest (MNF) is now organizing forest rehab volunteer events to address the aftermath of the Mill Fire. A volunteer agreement submission is REQUIRED to participate and the form may be obtained by emailing a request to J. Taggart: jctaggart@fs.fed.us. The form must be filled out, signed and returned to MNF by fax: 530-963-3173 or you can scan and return it by email. You may leave the “Agency” field on the form blank.

“M10 is open to traffic and you’ll be able to ride the fire perimeter”, per MNF.
These CLOSURES REMAIN IN EFFECT: http://www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_...rdb5382658.pdf

Per MNF: “We will be focusing our effort on replacing barriers that burned during the Mill Fire in and around the Fouts Spring area. This is an important part of our rehabilitation efforts in order to protect our Cultural and Historical sites throughout Stonyford. This project is not only important but it will also help streamline efforts in order to reopen trails within this area as soon as possible knowing we have protected these sites.

This project is mostly going to utilize our man power, so no bikes or heavy equipment is needed for this event. What we need you to bring is your PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) such as: Boots, Gloves, Eye Protection (safety glasses), long pants and long sleeves. Also bring your foul weather gear such as: Sun Gear (sunblock and hat), Rain Gear and Wind Gear (windbreaker) as this event will be rain, wind or shine.

All of the work we will be doing is within walking distance of Fouts Springs and Davis Flats Campground. There will be a lot of lifting, moving, placing and installing of barriers weighing up to 50+ pounds as well as the use of sledge hammers to install the barriers once in place.”

Free camping vouchers for Davis Flat Campground Saturday night, October 20 will be made available to volunteers during the event. Coincidentally, the Orionids meteor shower peak is that night: http://earthsky.org/tonight/radiant-...-meteor-shower

The Jackhammer Enduro has been cancelled the following day and is not expected to occur this year. Additional MNF volunteer days are scheduled for November 17, December 15, and January 19. Save the dates; more information will be posted as it becomes available.

Sorry for the crappy quality, but the air was smoky and I was taking the photos from the saddle of the 950...

Dean, M5 was closed when we were there. Looks like it'll be closed for awhile, but M10 is open all the way around and Goat Mt Road is open. I wanted to go up M10 towards the Mill Creek campground where the fire started but I'm sure the road to Mill Creek is closed. This trip was at the end of a 1200-mile long weekend up in Northeast CA so energy levels (and horrible-seat-butt-pain-tolerances ) were at critically low levels.

You should get tree donations together. Even if it doesn't equate to much it may do a lot for the relationship between off road riders and the state that sounds as if hates you lol. Maybe work with a local tree farm that will do a group discount. Coffee, it should be a tax write off too lol
