• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Strada low front fender options

Thanks. :applause:
Maybe they can put this up in the sticky.

Yeah, I was looking for it the other day and couldn't find it...then I was thinking I've been using that other site for shop manuals, so I checked for this one and there it was.

Also need to talk Hall's into adding it to their site...

Here's how it went with the F800GS low fender:

The bolt holes for the for fork guards on the Strada are different from the 800. The outer most bolt lines up on the two, however, the front hole is tilted outward on the BMW. This could possible be fixed by heating that piece and bending it back to the circular shape. With just the outer bolt on, I bolted the fender on and connected the rear mounts. This length was a little short, so the fender too a rather high angle in the front. Additionally, the BMW piece does not have a mount for the wires as the Husky does.

So, I'm going to look at this again, but my idea is to cut the bottom of the fork guards down and drill new holes to match the Strada's lowers. That shortened height should put the angle of the rear support back to where it should be. Drilling some additional holes should allow for zip ties to secure the brake and speedo lines. If all that works out, which I'm thinking it will be very close, then I should have a much better coverage front fender that has about 1 1/4" of mud clearance, with the option to extend it further (the BMW unit already has an addition probably 4-5" of coverage at the rear over the Husky part) with a fender extender for the BMW. Additionally, the BMW low fender has some slots for the reflectors, which would be great to move them down there from the location up on the fork tubes. So, that would be a nice bonus.

It's 50 degrees today and the snow is melting, so I'll be out messing with it after I get home from work.

Edit: Pictures are good even if crappy phone picture in an under lit garage with reflectors in the way...
