• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Strada Top Speed

As i said, put some weight on the back and have a try.

You will see it´s the solution, it´s a problem with the geometry ;)

My 630SM started to shake at certain speeds when I had new tyres fitted. I realize that these bike (suppose the Strada is one too) are designed to be agile and not as high speed tourers, so the geometry is different. I tried re-setting the balance and all manner of other experiment to no avail. Then I had the new tyres balanced and the problem disappeared. I could then do a regular 160 kph (verified with a gps). It sometimes begins to shake again at around 130-140kph but only temporarily. Have found that the front mudguard etc (wind deflection) seem to also contribute .

Haven't been over 105mph but I started practicing wheelies 2 weeks ago which is pretty fun, sometimes a little frustrating, sometimes a little nerve racking- maybe 20 minutes total practice time & I'm up to 4th gear starting from first. :)

I have reduced the preload backside one level and will work an the fork. I will make the fork a little higher by putting the tubes through to the last marking ring. That should result in a slightly larger wheelbase which should lead to a better straight outlet.

Terra also has shimming at 130kph, but desapeared when front grip is wasting.

Preload back to original, softer causes bad feeling in curves.

Putting the fork higher (last marking ring) brings an entirely new driving feeling :D

Were you able to use the spanner wrench that came in the tool kit?
If so, what side of the bike gives the beast access for getting the wrench in there?

No :D i had to use a much smaller spanner wrench with a large extension.

The only acces the bike offers is the lower end of the frame triangle at the left side, no other access possible

Yesterday I change front tyre to TW301. Rear tyre is still stock metzeler with 17.500km.
curiously no shake, no shimming at all, at between 110-130km like before with stock tyres..
My Terra has skidplate and crashbars SW, stock windshield and no handguarda, and it has improved the behaviour at 130km totally with TW301 brigestone. that´s means
it could be the tyres the cause of all problems of stability and shaking at these speeds..

others cuestions guys, somebody has mounted HEIDENAU K60 SCOUT, please let us know your impressions ..

how many km o miles, before changing??. front and rear.. Please. What about shimming at 130km/h??.

Heidenau K60 Scout 1.500 km now. Changed the original Metzeler after about 7.000 km front+rear. No shimming at 130 kph, but sometimes at 145-150 kph as with the stock tyres.

Good tire with plenty of tread depth. Will last much longer than the Metzeler

Well . My stock front metzeler last 17.500 km . the rear one still on use, could be 3000km more.
now i am going to observe the new front TW301 brigestone to see mileage..
I also will try k60 rear to probe dirt and tarmas reactions. somebody has change 140 seccion to 130, to see if the waste of both tyres could be similar.

at the moment shaking and shimming has desappeared at 130-140km/h

Shaking and schimming is no problem of the tires but of the bikes geometry.

Try this: As the bike begins to shake sit on the back end of the seat and shaking will disappear.

Too little weight on the rear side.

I am going to probe that . NOrmaly shimming has desapeared as you lie down the windshield. Do you know mass distribution in Terra??. 55% front- 45% rear??. 65%/35%??
