  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Hi All
still making all the newbie mistakes....i striped the oil bolt head of the bottom of the engine where the oil drains....i can get a bunch of bolts for replacements....

the second bolt thread i stripped is for the oil filter case cover.....the longest bolt that goes into the engine case....i stripped it....i might have overtightened it a wee little bit and it went..however i have the cover tight...hopefully for the next few ride over the next couple of months...
but can anyone let me know of the replacement bolt that might be little bit longer and can fit the specification

thanks
rudy

haha Gotta stay off the roids when your doing oil changes.:lol:

When it Comes time to change the oil next time just remove the bolt(hopefully it comes out) and take it to a hardware store and find a bolt that matches it.

you can always remove it with vice grips if all else fails but you def should replace it when you get it off. All oil change bolts just need a nice snug on them. I know it seems like they should be tight so they wont leak but just a little snug is good enough for oil bolts.

is it that simple get it....go to the local hardware store :)
i know sung it is....but brain fart and i used the wrench trying to do two things at a time and just overtightened it a wee bit...i might have stripped some treads off the insides :(

You can always call a dealer and have the bolt sent to you. If you stripped the threads you're going to need a helicoil. As far as the drain bolt goes, Motosportz was working on getting some magnetic ones in and 7602 sells a really neat setup for all the drain bolts.

Yep, the bolts are probably not the damaged parts now. They are steel, the case threads are aluminum alloy and will be the damaged component. Most likely need new threads now if they can't retain the spec torque values. I don't have the torque values in front of me for a 2006 TE250 but here are the 2008 TE510 numbers: Drain plug-18.4ft/lb Filter cartridge screws: 4.3ft/lb + loctite 243. Bet they're very similar. To convert ft/lb to in/lb multiply ft/lb by 12.
