  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Strongest Rad Guards

A Class
Who makes the strongest rad guards for a 08 TE450. All the ones that I have seen seem to provide good frontal impact protection, but lack in side impact protection, I'm more worried about a hard side impact that a front impact.

I think the ones from Force Accessories are pretty well built for side impacts. That's what I went with. I've also heard OFG's are really, really strong! The ones from Bullet Proof Designs may be the ones Coffee is speaking of. If they were available when I was looking I probably would've gone with the bullet proof ones.

I think the Bullet Proof Designs radiator guards, cool better and are stronger than any others that I have seen. The down side, they cost twice as much as some of the other guards. :) Ken

OFG Racing, I got a set and they have taken a least two big get offs and no rad damage

I have the Old Fat Guy racing guards on a TE 450 and they are a little thicker and one more post than the CRD's. From a fall to the side I do not see how these would bend very easy. I have not soil sampled them yet but I feel confident if I do I will still have a radiator.

 No one loves Motosportz any more? Tossed to the side for the new guys in town. No one thinks our big embossed ribs side to side for side impact damage is good? No one likes the frontal protection for roost and sticks? No one likes the EZ to maintain and spiffy looking powder coat? No one cares that we were here with support when no one else was? I have not damaged a radiator since 04 when I started running our guards... but no one seems to care about the guys who have been here supporting all along.

Lets see 10 oil filters, 3 air filters, 4 tires, front brake guard, rear brake guard, sparkplug wrench, front axle nut, axle wrench, front sprocket, steering damper, mid pipe guard, fork bleeders, Uptite Y, and a couple of spark plugs just off the top of my head. You will get no sympathy here Kelly. However you will get my thanks for being informative, helpful, prompt and putting up with all my questions. Thanks, :) Ken

Kelly are yours just like the Old Rooster's? If so I will give a big thumbs up to them..I have had several hard hits including a shot from a Toyota 4x4 on the street...They work very well!!

rad. gaurds

I have a set of the old fat guy racing (ofg) on my 06 te450. they are easy to install and didnt require any tweaking of existing parts, they are made of nice thick aluminum, and they will take a beating, belive me ive tested them plenty! soil samples, stray trees and even the occasional fall in the drive way,(damn kickstand). they are no longer available from ofg direct, you have to get them from halls cycles, i believe they are just under a hunded bucks.

scoobywrx05, which ones did you eventually get?

I got the OFG Racing ones also. Super simple but impresive.

Very FLIP -N- funny there Kelly. I like your stile. However, I am sorry to say I sold yours and bought the OFG's. You see, I had a over heat problem in the slow rocky sections of Malcolm Smith trail up in Big Bear during the summer. I couldn't get fast enough speed for airflow. No more problem. I do have alot of the other goodies you carry and will be puting together another big order after my SM610 arives on Tuesday, :applause: We all love you, your goodies and your support CUPCAKE! We are :notworthy: Of course the ? is Strongest....Not sure who makes those.

I actually went with the Motosportz ones. I actually had a really hard drop one day when I came around a corner in 3rd gear and hit a patch of ground that was still frozen(riding early this spring and I live in northern PA) and had the whole bike wash out right from under me and I and the bike hit the ground hard,I thought for sure it would of bent the rad but it didn't. I was surprised to say the least that they held up to that. Just this last weekend I over shot a turn and ended up landing with a tree right in between the tank shroud and the frame, and no damage was done at all. The tree is also what stopped me from about 10 mph. I've been very happy with them so far and would recommend them to anybody. As far as the cooling factor goes,,,I just zip tied the stock rad shrouds onto the rad braces and haven't had a problem with anything getting warm yet. Good product Kelly:thumbsup: and no disappointment here.
