  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Strongest Rad Guards

Something tells me there will be another option becoming available in the next 4-6 weeks. ;)

Whatcha got Clay ? I love your extended clutch cover (which I've recommened to folks trying to go deeper for rekluses..) Pm with the prototypye maybe ??;)

I've had my Motosportz rad gaurds on my TC250 and climbed two ST climbs totaling about 8000' feet in 95# weather, between 6500-8500' elevation more than once. No O/H issues.

I'll "leak" out a few prototype pics once the production braces are almost ready for sale.

OFG rad guards and fitment...

Will the OFG's fit 2007 TE's ?.. i.e. are all the mouting points the same ?

I also heard a rumour that the EE (enduro engineering) guards are the same or that they Make the OFG guards...

I have the Force and have crashed or fallen, I don't know, 200 or so times. Never even come close to damaging a radiator or bending a guard. I've ripped the shrouds off so much with vines and trees I don't even use them anymore. It was a toss up between them and the Rooster (Motosprotz nowadays?) but IIRC the Force had a little more bracing on the back.

I use the CRD perimetral guards and they are fine. The area we ride is ful of rocks, stones and fallen trees (we has some heavy storms) and the tracks were the typical "trial" areas of some 20 years ago. Now we go there with enduro bikes? Anyway, not the area you want to ride if you want to keep your bike as new. Plastics look old after 2 rides and the engine guards and frame tubes are hammered and battered, same as the swingarm. After 2 rides with my 2005 TE 250, I had to change the radiator, it was completely smashed and only 2/3 of its original width. Time for a guard. The CRD does ok; only ones I had to bend it back (dismounting from the frame) but it safed the radiator. There seems to be a special radiator guard for the 450 with electrical fans.

No overheating issues with kellys guards here.
I ride a lot of tigth single track and never overheated (thats with the fan), where my two brothers 450s (crf and klx) usually boil. Our trails are horse trails, so slow the first thing i did was to change my 08 510s front sprocket to a 12 tooth. I think this also helps because of less clutch abuse. I have not taken soil or bark samples with the guards on (before i bended the left radiator with my own boot on a slow crash) so i cant review them from this standpoint, but they look really strong and fit nice.

Well, I just noticed when my TE510 was parked next to a buddy's TE510 that my radators were in rather, um, unconventional shapes. I have had the Motosportz guards on since the beginning, and I kinda stopped worrying about them.

But ... well, the left side looks like it was hit from the front, and the entire thing - guard and rad - warped backwards and were now touching one of the rad hoses, almost pinning it to the motor. Back bracing might have helped here, but it's hard to say - the failure might have just been transferred elsewhere. Dunno.

The bottom part of the right rad was warped inwards, as if it had taken a big blow from that side, maybe in an off in rocks or similar. The Motosportz damper has a side "plate" that comes down and protects the rad side ... except for the last inch or so, which is apparently where the rock/stump/thing caught the rad and bent it. Dang, now that wasn't all that lucky, was it ... :)

After I pull the rads and send them to UT to get fixed (and reinforced), I'm not sure what guards I'll put back on ... I like Kelly's, but I'm wondering if something with brackets would have helped with at least one of these impacts.

I put a set of OFG radiator guards on my 2009 TXC 250, and those things are really solid. I've never had any issue with them. I'm sure the Motosportz radiator guards are equally as nice, but I have no personal experience with them.

realize this is an old post.. but would sure love to see how those EE braces fit around the regulator bolted to the frame. :banghead: I was down at Tasky;s today and picked up a set, cant get them to fit for nothing. Left side's fine, but right in front and top of the radiator is the regulator. Any chance you have the same pic but from the front side handy ?

www.7602racing.com have some ultra braced up rad guards and they now fit the 2010 TE/TXC/TC 250 4 bangers.. 2 color selections and as far as air flow the bike never new they were there.. It didn't like the flatland units..

If you want to keep your rads straight and no leakers then you will want to grab a set of these and see your fears of bend rads disappear..

Chow, Carl

I agree with Carl here. I just received and installed my 7602 braces and they are ROCK SOLID and fit really well to boot. You also get to easily retain your rad fan and stock louvers if you so desire. Awesome product!
