• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Stupid questions or not..?? Husky 650 Intermittent Stopping

I got a follow up email from Technoresearch. No help!

Hi Charles,

Unfortunately we don’t sell any tools that can tune/remap any Husqvarna. We do have a diagnostic tool, but it is limited to diagnostic features only.

Regards,

Hey Charlie, how are your persuasion skills?
I'm not known for my tact. Haha.

I called them this morning and talked with Sandro, really nice folks there.

We talked at length, and there is a slim, very slim chance it could happen. All the cogs in the universe would have to line up.

First and main hurdle is production numbers of the TR650. My understanding is minimum production run of bike they would like to see is 40,000 units. On a good day, there may be 5,000 Terra/Strada. I have had no luck getting numbers from Husky/BMW/KTM.

The 40,000 might be overlooked if another bike with high production numbers came across their bench, that used the same technology, and small tweaking was all that was needed to make the Terra work. That is not likely, as computers get more and more complex, and the Terra numbers will never grow.

If somebody can find out what other bikes use this particular ecu, we might find better numbers for RD of the tools to tune them.

Since 30. April I got the latest factory update on my Terra.

Can`t say much until yet, but the bike feels a bit smoother now.

Unfortunately the idle speed is a little unstable now.

Everything else is ok, power as before and no disadvantages except idle speed.

Hi Norland. Do you mean 30 April 2014?? Is there a new updated map...?, if so do you know what version?
....this could be what we have all been waiting for .....

Yes... 30. April 2014

The dealer told me it´s the newest update from march 2014. I don´t know what version, sorry.

It´s an update of the control unit and the dashboard.

After the update the dashbord no more shows "map 2" (as it is buildt for the Nuda).

I think that´s the easiest way to check if you allready have the actual update on your bike.

I haven't had any updates since I bought my bike in July 2013, my display doesn't display "Map 2" but my idle also isn't very stead and I have had a couple stalls at low speed usually right when I start off before the bike warms up fully. The longer I let it idle the smoother it gets and it is less likely to stall.

Maybe it´s allready an updated dashboard? The early ones (my Terra is from the beginning 2013) showed "Map 2" in the dashboard (as it was originaly created for the Nuda) and i know of other ones that had the same issue.

After this update the bike runs much more smooth, no stalling at all

I have just installed the PCV w/autotune, all I can say is wow! I can start cold and drive of with no hesitation. Much improved throttle response, no 3000 rpm dead spot. The bike now seems to be a wheelie monster. Best mod done to date for me.

Before I install the PCV with auto tune should I get the latest Moss flash or just install with the old factory tune?

I have never hooked up to Moss. My bike shows a build date of 7/13, I know this is not possible being they shut factory down in 2/13. I was told that they do not get a ser# until they get destination country, therefore they odd build date.

I guess my bike was more sick than I thought. I just got use to letting it warm up to full temp and give lots of throttle on takeoff. I had a few times were it would stall at stop lights and it did not like 2nd gear starts.

I have noticed that it seems to shift much smoother as well. Very happy and when I learn more about the program I think I will be even more pleased with it.

Something does not sound right here...?? Mine has II on the dash and has done since end of last year...its been on the MOSS tool three times now. I will find out about this update......I feel the dealer is feeding you a bit of a BS about it being the latest, it probably is (for you) but its near a year old.

Throttle response with mine is fine no dead spots at all. Wheelie monster??, is that roll on in 1st,2nd or do you have clutch it and pull it?

March 2014 is a year old???

What year do we have downunder?

I think it´s newer than "end of last year" :D

Norland, I understand there has only ever been one MAP for our bikes from day one until now.

My dealer has a MOSS tool and has invited me to come and have a play with it with my bike hooked up to it. The actual machine/software is difficult to use and that is being polite!!. If I find anything I will post it.

Before this update the dashboard showed "MAP II".

After the update the dash no more showed "MAP II". This display is completely gone.

So as i told, it´s an update of the control unit and also of the dashboard.
