• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

SWM 650 -> The 630 returns!

Sometimes I think the engineers and suits work in a vacuum; aren't they aware of sites like CH and ADVR? There is so much real world experience here, with weak points identified and often simple fixes worked out that it seems a crime not to put the knowledge to use. Fixes cost pennies at the manufacturing stage, and sometimes there would be no cost at all other than a bit of time prior to production. Gearing, sub-frame, side stand are things that come to mind, along with a factory option for more fuel capacity. OK, that's off my chest.

AJP does. They asked me (and I'm sure many others) about the 610 motor. We told them over and over and under the seat of rear filler is not good on an adventure bike and they have moved it. They all ride, right out of the back of the shop. They have many testers and respect and react to valid opinions. They responded to my EFI and other input. They listen to the US importers feeds back, visit him and really want to understand the product and various market needs and make quick changes to address these needs. They are doing well because of it. Great company. I wanted to be more involved but it was not in the cards for me at this time.

This could be the mid size Adventure tourer that so many have been waiting for.. ever since the KTM 640 Adventure went away at least. If they can keep the price under $10k with our without the luggage (I prefer soft bags anyway), I'd slap my money down

Super Dual is around 7000 euro in Italy without luggage. :)
All parts (including the gastank) should fit on all Husqy 630's.

Had a chat with a bloke that was talking with a guy with direct connection with the factory.Long story short is they know about the 630 weaknesses ,clutch etc and have fixed them.Turns out husky had no $$ and couldn't do anything about it at the time. Also pretty cool that guys who built the bike still work there.
My husky is going off to get a mold taken off it for a possible aftermarket fairing for the 650 before they hit our shores, fingers crossed it is ready when they get here .Looks like here in oz they are going to offer a adventure pack.

Tha
TE630 and Terra 650 have the same headlight, I've had them in my hand. :)

The headlight bucket and shroud are also the same.

.
Thanks Bob that will good news for my mate.Normally he adds a upgraded light but costs can be kept down buy using original bucket unless people think they might need a brighter light.

I wouldnt mind getting the improved airbox cover .
Erik any info on what changes they may have made to the clutch

Hi everyone. Does anyone have specific knowledge of fork on the swm rs650. That is: is the cartridge one of nasty crimped together marzocchi things like the early f800gs's had? Or is it a decent thing i can re valve? And more generally has anyone in Australia actually sighted a bike yet? I'm not getting any response from the Im porter .

Not much info on their website. Its probably worth contacting SWM via their Facebook page - they seem very responsive. While you are at it, perhaps you could find out if you can get a microfiche and parts details / shop manual for the bike - it would be super to see comparisons with the 610/630. It looks like there are some improvements and differences, and also many shared parts (are the part numbers the same? what about prices/ordering? etc etc).

I've seen two in Australia in the flesh. One at the Sydney motorcycle show, and the other at Central Coast Motorcycles at Gosford.

Found one. Looks better in the flesh. The manual is brief, it quotes the swm website link that you must be a registered owner to acess . The australia importer has a bike fitted with b&b bash plate and safari tank from te630. They claim it very close to identical. Did the te630 have that awful Alloy prop stand? Seems a nice bike apart from the stand and seat. Neither of those put me off. Suspension is lowish spec but revalveable. Thinking. ..f
