• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

SWM 650 -> The 630 returns!

In Australian dealers now. Arrived about a week ago. First batch is apparently not meeting euro4. ABS i believe. Aussies are either more talented riders, or expendable. Apparrantly.
Look good too. Longer gear lever, nicer seat, reputed to have the wide ratio gearbox. Anyone want to buy a gently used rs650r so i can afford to buy and test one for you?

Only have a 19 inch front wheel and pipes are inder the frame (bash plate should assist there. The pipes under the engine apparently gives another 2 ponies).
I am trying to source the 19 litre tank, lower crash guards and wind screen from the Enduro for my 650 RS-SWM are coming back to me re availability and fit.

I think the 19" front wheel is a positive attribute for the market intended. Fire roads & and forrestry trails with adv tires its big enough to tune the suspension around. It won't be great over roots and rocks of course, but its not a trail bike. Just look at the exhaust and weight spec. And 19" gives much better grip in the bumpy sealed back roads used to acess those trails with a suspension set compromise better suited to those 2 applications. I'd really like to try one for a few thousand km to see if my opinion works out in reality. Maybe next year, after the first model issues are worked out. Did they upgrade that clutch mount shock absorber yet?
But i bet the 21" version outsells it at least 2 to 1. In this adv market, the 'look' is more important than practical reality.

Looks like if you want an SWM SM650r youre going to have to put 17's on a RS650R

If you like the fast racing supermotard you can always buy an SM500R
They have taken away from the SM650 sales to place the superdual X wheels 21-18 and Superdual T with wheels 17-19

Rotax, I answer your question :)

Closest I could find for a SuperDual. I'm guessing most engine details, expect perhaps gear ratios will be on the money. The electricals will be largely the same expect for additional chassis wiring that exists on the SuperDual (extra little fog lights etc).

For the whopping $5 investment, I figure it's a better reference than none. Delivered by download after purchase, just click on the 'order details' button once you have paid.

Turns out the wiring diagram for the SuperDual is in the owners manual thingy which you can download. Between that and the above, it's pretty darn close to covering everything you need from a shop manual, other than suspension rebuilds and perhaps wheels if they're different specs to the RS 650 R (but they probably aren't).

Compared engine specs a couple of years ago and from what I can remember the superdual and TE630 were the same except the Superdual uses the SM 630 transmission with it's lower 6th gear.
