• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

SWM in the USA

I'll bite on the "who will be first to put the plastics on a Husky"...anybody know if the SWM plastics are a direct fit and if they're even available in the US? "Restoring" our 09 ragged out TXC 450 right now and plastics/graphics are on the list. :)

The new graphics are MUCH better than the other ones I've seen to date. In fact, the old graphics really put me off. Hopefully these will go onto the other dual sports as well.

Nice vid, I assume they can go in a straight line as well (he says tongue in cheek).
My RS650 is pretty darn good out of the box. It does need de-restricting however. Not to much clue over here at the mo how to do it as the ECU is apparently different to the TE 630.

300 and 500 are the hurdle jumpers. they are close. US is very heavy and slow....even though these things really were certed before as the husky brand.

Yep, it's going to happen. They are working it out. They said on their FB page they got their DOT Book so the factory can make small tweaks to be DOT compliant, but no further testing. They should hear from the EPA/CARB soon about the 500. Hang in there.

The Trump administration is talking (per Wall Street Journal, yesterday's edition) about levying an import tax duty of up to 100% on European motorcycle imports (presumably under 500cc) which would affect, among others, KTM Husqvarna Vespa Beta Aprilia Moto Guzzi Ducati etc.

And presumably, if it passes in its present proposed form, it would affect SWM as well, most likely ending any prospects for US sales.

Am I interpreting the present state of affairs correctly ?

It's a wait and see game right now. It's been in the news for a couple of months. AMA has been pushing action alerts to write to the trade commission and your congressman.
