  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TC TE questions?!?!

I am looking at a 2008 TC 510 that is for sale. It is converted to street use and I am wondering if the bike would be any good for it. I am new to Husqvarna bikes and I know that changing a 450 mx bike to street use spells trouble.
I guess Im asking if this motor is the same one used in the smc and the te bikes and if it is high strung and unreliable for regular use. I do understand that it will be a high maintenance bike but will it be compairable to the ktm 530/450 exc street bikes?

If you really want a MX on the road i would look at the TXC it has a 6 speed tranny with E start vs 5 speed for a TC. Why not get a TE with power up kit would but just plain simple street legal if you really want a dual purpose bike.

I do not know for your area but in my area there is no way to get a street plate for a dirt bike, as soon as they run the serial number the screen turns red, last year many people received a letter saying sorry but the goverment will not re-issue a street plate to all the people having a dirt bike plated street.

As a owner of a TC510. It wouldnt not be my first choice to convert into a dual purpose bike. I also believe that the TE would be your best bet. You do know that the TC is a motocross bike? Its apple and oranges to the ktm 530/450 exc's. Just different animals.

The TC510 wont be bad on the street. First you have to understand that supermoto's aren't freeway cruisers though. The 5 speed in the TC will be just fine for tearing up city streets, canyons and local highways.. There are plenty of converted MX bikes running the streets with 5 speeds, and even RMZ's with 4 spd's. Its all about gearing and maintenence.

If you can get the TC for a good price I dont see why not. Does it have dirt and supermoto setup?
