  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TC250; Looking for more low end power.

I'm looking to get more low end power from my 2010 TC250.

Anybody done any mods that greatly improve low end on this bike?

I think the FMF Power Bomb head pipe actually helped my TXC a little. Not sure how unless the header is bigger in diameter. I have been tempted to play with the head gasket but don't want to tear into it yet. I am thinking gearing with a 51 tooth might help too. I did not like the 52 as it seemed to make 2nd too high in rpm and 3rd too low for my riding.

51 tooth sprocket seemed to make the bottom much more snappy.

To be honest with you, the first time I rode the TC250 the bottom felt really, really weak. I rode it back to back with my father-in-laws CRF250x, which is set-up for torque.

With more hours on it, the bottom feels strong and responsive. On single track, I have to pay attention to my throttle input to keep from flying off the trail. The motor definitely takes time to loosen up.

I would like to get 40hp out of this bike (forest legal), just for fun...pipe dream, haha. I think it would be unstoppable with that kind of HP. In stock form, the TC250 feels mild in the motor department. However, when I ride it on the track next to all other types of bikes (250 2t, 250 4t, and 450t) I have no problems keeping pace.

Maybe with the new 310 coming out with a 3mm bigger bore we'll be able to do something there. Should make for a nice 280 big bore kit.

It is amazing how long it takes these Huskys to run in and loosen up. You really don't know what you got until about 20 hours in.

That is a good idea. That will make for a nice improvement.
