  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Husqvarna
A Class
Hey guys,

just thought I'd share some pics of the bike I took today when we were out trying the new Akrapovic exhaust. Cant believe how much difference the exhaust makes. Really happy with it!!

Enjoy!!

Seems to be a "borrowed" stand.....:busted:

Haha its not actually! It is ours, but its from our 1988 CR250 bike! Havent had chance to make any husky decals for the other stand yet!

Can you tell us what the actual differences were in terms of performance and where it was most felt please.
Looks like a great pipe just on looks alone.

The pipe gives alot more bottom end, all the way through to the top end. The one thing that we found with the standard pipe was there wasnt much over rev, and the bike didnt have too much top end. Now the bike has loads more on top end and has more over rev.

When riding today, theres a part of the track which has a 180 bend followed by a table top. With the bike standard, it had to be screamed in 2nd round the corner to clear the table top. Today with the new pipe on, it has so much more bottom that you're able to hit the corner in 3rd, seat bounce the jump and clear the TT with ease.

In 22 years of racing, we've never had so much noticeable difference from an exhaust system. We chose the Akrapovic pipe after seeing the power graphs, and we defiantely made the right choice. The fit is brilliant, and the quality is amazing.

Looks like you've still got you db restrictor in, if you are allowed try pulling that out, power feels even better!! I love our Akrapovic's and we now run them on all of our team bikes!! What jetting set up are you using???

No the db restrictor isnt installed, we never use them, it'll stay in the toolbox unless we get noise tested!

Our jetting is probably different to yours, as we're in the UK.

hi husk husk,is the akro readily available, and what does it cost compared to the rest of the pipes,??im hearing good things about the dep system, and at £299 has to be worth tryin??.

As far as I'm aware yes the pipe is out now. The stainless version is £632 and the Ti is £869.

I've gotta be honest and say we've always used DEP pipes on our 2 strokes and had DEP S7 pipes on our CRF450's. Always been excellent pipes, great quality and always worked very well.

The only reason we never had a DEP pipe this time was because we seen the power graph from the Akra and it had more power exactly where we wanted it.

Yeh no doubt there will be some difference in the jetting between the UK and Indonesia! I was just interested though regardless of there being a difference here as we have one bike we just can't dial in perfectly yet, whenever the throttle is cracked open there seems to be a small bog on the bottom....Jetting is the same as our others but they don't have this bog for some reason....
Mighty cool white hoses, where did you get those???

The hoses are made by Samco here in the UK. They arent cheap though, around £100 for the 2 hoses!!

Personally, I would have stuck an "&" in there....I just hope the team is not wearing the "armband styled" Husky pit shirts. Would not want anyone to take it the wrong way...or unintentionally offend anyone at the BMW home office.

Maybe it is just the history buff in me but one never knows these days and having to be politically correct at all times.
