Nice find!
As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.
When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.
Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.
Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.
Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.
Thanks for your patience and support!
Nice find!
Care to summarize what happened?I can now say after the last three ride my bike is back up and working as it should. I finally get the battery charged up and have had nothing but smiles since. I was even in a good enough mood to suggest to a buddy that he should buy one which he promptly did.
Just bought a 2012 TE310.
Is this starter gear issue something I should be concerned about? Bike starts with button or kick start just fine now.
Still in the break in period so i wouldn't expect them to show any wear just yet. I do ride solo in remote wooded areas sometimes and I'd hate to get stranded.
Has anyone had the dealership replace their stock parts with the "upgraded" hardened parts under warranty after developing starting problems?
They are good people. To this point, I have to say that Tri County Powersports has been very helpful in trying to resolve this problem...
That matches every bit of information that has come my way. Some have issues, some don't. The ones with issues seem particularly problematic i.e. even though parts are replaced, the problem re-occurs....He says some bikes never seem to have issues, while others have some issues...
Set the left ex clearance at .005" or even .004 ,you check it more often but makes big big difference on elec start ,just try it.BILLFIn my 2010 txc250 (now its a 310) the starter has a hard time turning the engine over hot or cold. I checked valve clearance and its good. I pulled the stator cover off and the worm gear doesn't seem to be binding.
Before I took the engine apart and made it a 310 it turned over fine.
Do the starter motors go bad?
So my '10 te250 had the hot starter issue, that was under warentee and fixed. Now my '11 te310 has just developed it as well. My 310 is long out of warentee. So now the question is how do I get husky to fix a know issue out of warentee. In the end I'm sure ill end up paying but the big question what part is really broken?
