  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

just update on my te 449,great bike handles nice but surely husqvarna could have linked the hour meter in the clock a brand new enduro bike with no hour meter in my eyes is absolute crap, how on earth are you meant to monitor service hours and how will warranty work if you have no idea of hours.the bmw runs a hour meter so why on earth couldnt the husky tech guys link the one up thats allready in the clock really feel that this is bit of a cock up on there behalf, and to make things worse you cant fit a hour meter as the 449 has a coil pack and there is no where for the signal to be picked up but why should you have to fit a hour meter on a £7000 enduro bike.i hope husky come up with a reto fit solution to this problem as i dont think i will be the only person complaining.

what do you think guys a enduro bike without a hour meter, doing 50 miles on the trail and 50 miles racing is completely different little disapointed really, just hope husky can come up with a fix.

My 09 didn't have an hour meter either... its the same Speedo/Odo as yours I believe...
My Speedo/Odo died from water intrusion (4 days of riding in rain) 6 months after purchase-... I bought a Trail Tech Vector. It has an hour meter and adjustable trip meters +... My Ibeat system tells me exactly the hours as well. But I don't go by hours or miles really for oil maintenence- If I race it- I change the oil, If I ride it I for a 2 day event dual sport or set up... I change the oil. If I ride it like I am racing for approx hours I change the oil. I try to keep the oil golden for the most part- I don't know if that makes me seem paticularly anal or particularily lazy but I feel I care for my bike well.

You could always get a separate hour meter...http://trailtech.net/tto_tach-hour.html 37$
I think I remember Husky having one in their hardparts catelog too?

wont work as it hasnt got ht lead its got coil pack like modern car, allso you shouldnt really have too on a £7000 brand new bike

Go by whatever the owner's manual says for service intervals. If you follow that and it grenades, it's not your fault...

the manual states hours and km so how do you record the hours? doing a hare and hound for 3 hours say 80 mile or doing 8 hours in the woods 80 mile is completely different ? will probally just have to go by the hours and hope it evens itself out as i normally change the oil every 8 hours and alternate the filter.

Sorry the trailtech one won't work- I didn't notice the new system you have... (all that AND a bag o chips)

If you want an hour meter- it CAN be had even with that new system. You should be able get an hour meter that works off AC and connect that to your Ac/ head light circuit- that way: it only measures hours when the motor is running. I haven't overly researched this for you but do know that they make many various hour meters that could be used in any situation vibration activated, ac, dc,....

yep there is meters to be had but a bike of this calibre i feel should have one allready fitted

Cant you pull the hours from the ECU?
Adding a second hour meter would be redundant in this case.

the only way you can get the hours from the ecu is by main dealer,i cant see why you cant link the hour meter thats in the clock to the ecu

You can fit an hour meter - the pick up lead from the hour meter will still sense the bike is running if you remove the stick coil, tape the hour meter sense lead to it and refit. Its not ideal but I'm told it works...

It would nice to have this device from the factory but when selling thousands of bikes, these companies are gonna look at the bottom line and cut out or not add\update things as much as possible

If you get the TT hour meter you can give TT a call and they will tell you how to make it work with a coilpack setup like you have. I understand your disappointed but they haven't come with hour meters ever, as far as I know! I found a TT unit on sale for $25 and you can do that too. Not too hard. Good luck!

my 08 had an hour meter and sticking a wire to side of coil pack with tape is a bit heath robinson, and the wire wont go past the coil pack any way you would have to drill hole in top, just wondering how husky expect you to keep eye on hours for servicing,i dont know about us but in uk people buy used enduro bikes on how many hours its done, but on a good note guys if this is my only issue the bike is going to be good.

well guys now have 180miles on the 449 dropped the oil and filter and give her hell,i softened susspension right off due to it being hard to start with but now she has bedded in its a little soft so allthough i have been strugling for grip i cant really comment on the handling as i want to go back to standard settings now its softened up a little, the only real issues i have is gear lever is little high for my liking have to keep lifting my foot to change gear, tried lowering but then its too low, front pipe is very un protected, dented mine allready seems to be lot softer material than previouse bikes so is going to damage easily allso there needs to be a guard above clutch housing as it keeps burning my trousers, and be carefull as the clutch housing stick out quit far and have allready scraped the plastic cover but maybe a aftermarket sump guard may give a little more protection apart from that seems sweet will keep you informed.

Nice. I have about that many miles on my TE511 now. Love the bike on and off the road. I really like how it handles. Controlled, deliberate and stable, EZ to hold a line. No issues with handling here. LOVE the motor. Wish the tank was bigger and the 6 speed was wider. I have had no pipe burning my pants issues but am wearing in the boot pants. I agree on the shifter, could be a little lower. The suspension on mine is very good for the variety of stuff i ride and feel no need to revalve right now. Great bike IMHO

BTW i got me one of these little tach / hour meters from trailtech, EZ install and tiny, works great.

are you on standard suspension settings ? and what sort of terain do you ride ? and yes i had my enduro wet weather pants on so in boot pants it would be fine.

I have ridden everything from tight single track, to gravel roads to street as it is my Dualsport bike. Not sure where i am at right now on the clickers but find it plush and controlled for most everything i do. If I am doing DS a lot of stiffen it up. If I hit rough single track I back out on the comp adjusters.

i do a lot of rough single track stuff, will go back to standard settings now its softened up a little and go from there, you really have move around the bike i found to get max grip and ride a bit different to my 08,hey allso can you make something to get rid of that horrible heat shield
