  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Hi, I,ve put my name to a 511, and have a few questions owners may be able to answer. I have a 450 TE 09 at present, Ive fitted the shorter bolt to stop the sidestand springing up, can i swop this to the 511? To fit fork bleeders, what size thread are the 511,s and where can I obtain them. I,ve also unbrakable levers on the 450, will these swap over.
I,ve also a full selection of Moose Racing tool/innertube bags, it looks difficult to fit to the front and back of the 511, how has anyone overcome this.
On the 450 a power mode button is avilable for the mapping, does the 449/511 have this facility and if so does the 450 one fit ( plugs in behind the head light
Does any one have an alloy bash plate, if so where are these available. Also bar risers, any available for the standard bars.
The new 449/511 no longer have a kickstart, obviously both are a bonus, has this put anyone off, or caused a lot of cursing, stuck in the middle of no where.
Lastly any general pros and cons owners can share, I would be gratefull, especialy regarding gearing. Its a new bike with new designs, which seam not to everyones liking, but hopefully an improvement on an already great line up of bikes.

I have had mine for about a month and a half now and love it. I'm sure you can swap kickstand bolts, I just cut the end of the bolt off with a hacksaw.
I ordered a skid plate from http://pirieperfprod.com/. Should be getting it any day now. I just wear a backpack when I ride for carrying tools and whatever
else I need to bring. Kickstarter wasn't an issue for me. Would it be nice ? Yes, but not a deal breaker. The gearing could be a little wider but not a huge
issue for me as I got the bike for off-road use and the only pavement that I see is connecting trails or the occasional rip to the store or to a friends house.
The bike handles really well in the dirt and the CTS is the real deal. The suspension is awesome and I haven't done a thing to it yet. The chain sometimes
likes to go clackity clack clack on the street. Really for me, there isn't much not to like about this bike. Here's a clip from a recent ride.

As the above, great bike. The fenders would actually lend themselves very well top holding tubes as they are wide and concave. Lever should swap no problem. Yes, simple one plus power up. Bar risers are EZ. Fork Bleeders are the KYB ones. Everything you asked about is simple to address. Enjoy a unique and excellent bike.

Thanks for positive replys, you say bar risers are EZ , can you explain that please, and do you know the thread size for the Bleeders, I,ve Motion Pro ones from my 450, will they fit?
Have you both kept the fitted brush guards or aftermarket items.
It seems the USA has a lot of companys doing after market parts for Husky, we aren,t so lucky in the UK, and postage can be expensive.

The risers are EZ because all you have to so a stack a riser and maybe get a longer through bolt. simple setup. EZ to adjust for height. The Zoke and KYB bleeders are different.

Will the 09 risers used as standard fit?
If the TC models have switchable power mode switch, does the TE not have the same mapping, with just the need to fit the switch as pevious 450 models. Are the fork bleeders m5 x 0.8 ?
Thanks by the way for the helpful input.
