  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

te310 elec start help

bensl

Husqvarna
AA Class
i am having elec start issues on my 2012 te310. so far i have replaced the battery and starter motor which has helped but the starting still feels laboured. i have looked at the gear set but cannot see any obvious signs of wear so not sure if i should replace it or not or should look at any other causes.

has anyone deal with something similar and can offer some suggestions of a fix?

thanks

Possibly the exhaust valve clearance is too much ?stopping auto decomp from actuating stop pressing the button and check the valve clearance

thanks for the reply. checking the valves was next on my list (although i did do them ~1000kms ago so they should be ok.)

cheers

Same problem here , at dealer getting starter motor and temp sensor under warranty so letting them figure it out , 12 te 310 here also , just had my valves done and exhaust was out of spec but that was before starting problem.

just checked the valves. all within spec but at the looser end.

surely this wouldn't affect the starting (would it)??

Try a higher amp hour battery and use an iridium plug .Keep a trickle charger on the battery when not i use. make sure valves are in spec.
On my old Ducati I ran a heavier grade earthing wire and that seemed to make her spoo up faster.

Sounds like a decomp issue to me, if everything is as ok as you say I'd look at that.
How does it kick over?
If not easily it's decomp issue.

the exhaust that is .008 should probably be .006 and that will help it turn over easier.

What oil are you using?

ok, ill try adding a larger shim to see if that helps. so only on the left exhaust side?

on occasions it starts first kick but lately it has been a read dog to try to start with the kicker. so maybe a decomp issue? can you elaborate at all on a cause/fix i can look into?

thanks for all your help

Had this issue for a bit so filed all cable connections/ground and was solved, you couldn't see any issue but seemed to be a coating on conectors. You likely already checked this but cheap easy thing to try.

Just got bike back from dealer , they put in a new starter motor and temp sensor, they said your not supposed to use e start when engine is hot , then showed me in the manual where it says it , sucks but now I know not to use it on hot motor.

thanks for the update. i have replaced my starter and temp sensor but still having trouble. strange they say dont use the starter when hot.. - whats the point on having it then! has anyone else heard this??

hopefully will get to the valves tomorrow to see if that helps. otherwise im stumped. i guess i will replace the gears and see what happens.

cheers
