    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

TE310R 2013 FI / Injector Problems

Hey everyone,

i recently bought a 2013 TE310R xlite in mint condition (~ 500 km). The previous owner told me had to replace the injector and fuel pump (gave me the old injector with the bike).
When i picked it up it was running fine (except for the electric start) and behaved normally.

Before my first ride i did some maintenance, checked the valves and removed the starter motor and worm drive. I then had it registered and on the first test ride it died on me.

So after around 6 km in the first ride it lost power. I stopped to check and it showed the following behaviour:
- engine running normally in idle
- as soon as i was opening the gas it would stutter and then flame out
- started again on the first kick but it was not possible to ride, immediate flame out
On the next day it would start 2 or 3 times, but now its not running at all.

I pulled out the injector and it does not spray any fuel while kicking over the bike.

- pump is priming while kicking over
- pump runs when applying 12 V directly
- Injector opens when applying 9 V directly and has a good spray pattern when connected to the tank
- Injector sprays when opened manually and the bike is kicked over
- i connected a bike light bulb to the line for the Injector and it flickers when i kick the bike
- i confirmed the key on the flywheel is not sheared (also removed the starter wheel on this occasion)

So now I'm hoping the Injector is faulty. Is it possible they can become "sticky" and don't open fast enough from the impulse by the ECU?
Or is my ECU shot?
Do you have any more ideas how to diagnose the problem?
Where can i buy a compatible Injector? The markings on the ones i have give me nothing (Keihin L DB12 and Keihin K BC05).

So i found the culprit: the previous owner installed an aftermarket fuel filter between the pump and the pressure regulator. Apparently it couldn't handle the pressure and had a visible hole, which dropped the pressure and the FI system was not working correctly anymore.
