• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE449 - What an easy bike to ride.

G'day All,
I got the chance to go and pick up my new TE449 '11 yesterday and after 120 Kilometres on it a can't stop smiling.
I can't believe how easy the bike is to ride quickly and how rock solid it feels.
On the open dirt roads where I live, I was thinking ...yeah it pulls hard but it's not super quick.
But tonight I took her for a run in Canunda National Park, where terrain varies from tight rutted single track to some soft big sand dune type of stuff.
WOW.... The bike just hooks up and feels so sure footed, and IMO easy to ride as it doesn't seem to have to much engine braking (more 2 stroke like)
I have not touched the suspension settings yet but will do in the near future.
The only complaint so far is the poxy ar$ed number plate holder, ripped it clean off in the first whooped out section that I come across.
That aside I am loving this bike so far.
Cheers
Glenn

Great platform. Everyone who buys one seems to love it. I jumped in early on and LOVE mine (TE511) . 2200 miles and not a bolt has come loose. Love that versatile machine.

I was really surprised at how easy the 449 (and 511) was to ride when I test rode one at the NW Husky Gathering a week or so ago. Very confidence-inspiring :)

It was a bike I could live with, for sure, and would make a great replacement for my KTM 450, which feels like a semi truck in comparison.

Hey, Canunda National Park; My group is heading down there tommorrow for 2 days, but unfortunately I will not be a starter due to my shoulder issues.
I am sure that your journey with this bike will only become even more satisfying as you discover what it has to offer. After you become accustomed to it for a couple of months jump onto a mates bike (KTM, Yamaha, Honda, Kawasaki) and you will instantly notice the advancements in the TE449.

I strongly suggest getting a JD 6X EFI Programer from Motorsportz and a good steering damper when you have the coin. These 2 items only make a good bike even better.

Good luck. I would love to see some photos when you can.

Hi Sam,
I'm sure your mates will love it at Canunda, the weather is looking like it's on the improve.
I've already ordered a JD tuner through Motosportz on your recommendation in another thread.
Steering damper will come down the track a bit.
What brand damper are you using?
Photos to come
Cheers

Good metaphor, and I would say the same about my '08 CRF450X Honda in comparison to my TXC511. Amazingly agile for big bore offroad bikes.

A quick photo with my 3yo onboard.
She now wants to trade in her Suzuki LT50 quad for a bike like daddy's.

Good girl!! You are obviously raising her right

Perhaps a Husky Boy 50 is in her future? BTW, Husky really needs to call those bikes something other than "Boy"

Yep.
Personally I don't like big bore 4ts that much, especially in the singletrack. The new TE/TXC's don't feel like a big bike and all the attendant chugginess that goes with a typical big bore. Easy handling too!
If I was to buy a 450+ 4t, one of these would be it.

This is really hard to make people believe.... after years of riding big bore Yamahas and Hondas and KTMs, nobody wants to believe that Husqvarna/BMW have figured out how to make a big bore that is easy to ride, even in single track.
