• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE449 - What an easy bike to ride.

I'm still loving this bike.
It is by far the easiest bike to ride that I have ever ridden.
I have had a couple of years without a bike and was expecting to really struggle for the first few rides.
Went for a ride with a couple mates thinking I was going to be the weak link..... I kept up easily and for a lot of the ride was out front.
On previous bikes I have always suffered from arm fatigue....on the husky I have not experienced this at all.

This is really hard to make people believe.... after years of riding big bore Yamahas and Hondas and KTMs, nobody wants to believe that Husqvarna/BMW have figured out how to make a big bore that is easy to ride, even in single track.

like the Berg there is something to this mass centralization.

I bought my TE 449 with a slight sense of trepidation. After one ride, I knew I hit the jackpot. It's the only bike I've bought in the last 3 years that I haven't thought about selling. It really is that good. It's "satisfying" in most every regard.

Thats a good way to put it. I use the word accommodating a lot to describe the bike cuz it just seems to work for / with you. where a lot of bikes there is some fight to riding them.

Yep.
Personally I don't like big bore 4ts that much, especially in the singletrack. The new TE/TXC's don't feel like a big bike and all the attendant chugginess that goes with a typical big bore. Easy handling too!
If I was to buy a 450+ 4t, one of these would be it.

Exactly! I know what a big bore 4-stroke feels like, and my KTM 450 kicks my butt if I try to ride it hard in there tight stuff.
I got the very distinct impression that the 449 wouldn't do that to me. It didn't feel like I was trying to rein in a runaway freight train when coming into a corner like the other big 4-strokes I've ridden. Don't know how Husky did it, but I think they got it right on the 449/511, and I will probably have one some day once the KTM is no longer rideable.

Ditch the pumpkin and take the plunge. Prices will never be this good again.

Hang out at the Husky shop & pick up a new mechanic. Then ditch the -_husband Sorry, I mean Ktm**************************************** Just kidding****************************************:D

I was really surprised at how easy the 449 (and 511) was to ride when I test rode one at the NW Husky Gathering a week or so ago. Very confidence-inspiring :)

It was a bike I could live with, for sure, and would make a great replacement for my KTM 450, which feels like a semi truck in comparison.

What year is yours ? Ever since I got my 511 I've been wanting to ride a KTM, Husaberg, Beta just to get a feel of what the competition has to offer. A couple
weeks ago I went riding with a couple TT guys up in Foresthill. So it was me on my 511 and the other two were on a KTM 450 and Beta450. Both had the RFS Motors.
The Beta was an 09', KTM 07'. I switch bikes with the Beta for a while and to me the difference was huge. I'm clearly going to be biased but the Beta felt really
sluggish compared to mine. He was really impressed with the FI and responsive power of my bike. Power wise mine was way better everywhere. You can bog down
in 3rd on tight s/t and still chug along. I'm in love with the motor especially after doing the pipe/JD mods.

smaller than i imagined from pics online. i want one!

Good girl!! You are obviously raising her right

Perhaps a Husky Boy 50 is in her future? BTW, Husky really needs to call those bikes something other than "Boy"

Do they still make the Husky Boy 50?
Husqvarna Australia website does not mention them at all.
My daughter has her 4th birthday coming up and I would love to get her a Husky "just like dads but little".
A pumpkin it might have to be
