  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Husqvarna

TE450/510 (07, 08, 09, 10) OEM changes

I am trying to determine the various improvements that were made from one year to the next. Can anyone point me to another thread already detailing this information? Here's a start:

07 TE450/510
1. carbs
2. silver wheels

08 TE450/510
1. fuel injected
2. silver wheels

09 TE450/510
1. fuel injected
2. black wheels
3. new tank graphics
4. new exhaust system with removeable cat in mid-pipe
5. new oil pump and filter
6. new lighter, stronger frame
7. EFI software:
09 has variable setpoints (20% /40% / 70%) vs 1 (0-100%)for 08
09 does not require 02 sensor installed to make adjustments to race map
09 has simple data logger for fuel trim vs rpm/throttle position when using 02 sensor (long term adaptation table)
09 allows base table for 02 sensor fuel map to be modified (20% / 40% / 70%)

10 TE450/510
1. Kayaba 48mm forks
2. redesigned steering clamps
3. 15mm shorter swingarm
4. new damper settings on Sachs shock
5. new stronger, flexible body panels
6. more powerful front and rear lights
7. LED rear lights
8. new hubs and wheel spindles
9. fixed rear disc
10. new radiator hoses
11. new powerful waterpump

I can update this list as new information is found. I am learning this in hopes of becoming a new Husqvarna TE450/510 owner soon.:D

Also, does anyone know if the trip-computer mileage is resettable in 10th's?

Great, updated first post.

Does anyone with a TE 450/510 know if the trip-meter is resettable in 10th's. I know that KTM's trip-meter can be adjusted, which is great when riding with a roll-chart. I was hoping Husqvarna would also use this feature.

As far as the EFI software between 08 and 09 on TE:

09 has variable setpoints (20% /40% / 70%) vs 1 (0-100%)for 08
09 does not require 02 sensor installed to make adjustments to race map
09 has simple data logger for fuel trim vs rpm/throttle position when using 02 sensor (long term adaptation table)
09 allows base table for 02 sensor fuel map to be modified (20% / 40% / 70%)

In my opinion - the 09 basemaps as closer to ideal than for the 08 - and the adjustability of the 09 EFI gives you the better opportunity to customize power/throttle response/economy to what you like.

I have no experience with 2010's EFI.

why stop...

Great idea will have to make into a sticky when done. Why stop on just these 3 years?

I have been considering these later years, but I would imagine this would be helpful to others if we expand it to older models as well. But then, we would need to expand to other models, and then.....I might need a paycheck.
