  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE510 low fuel indicator

Husqvarna
Just got a 2010 TE510 and I have question on the low fuel indicator. Anybody know how much fuel is left in the stock 1.9gal tank when that indicator lights up? Is tha going to be the same for the IMS 3gal tank?

I saw mine for the 1st time last week.

Like came on, bike went 1 or 2 miles and shut down.

Poured about a cup in and it restarted and ran the last 2 miles to the truck.

Thats not very encouraging

My bike is a 2010 TE250 if it matters.

What's worse is there was still some gas sloshing in the tank when it died. I don't think it uses all the gas.

on my 08 sm450r lite come on at normal to quick riding around 40-50m. I usually fill up around 65m and have .5 gal left. today i ran out of gas at 60m with hard riding. and when filled up i put 1.82 gl in.

So your saying figure about 30mpg or 32mpg or 60 to 65 miles per stock tank (less than 2 gals)? Then it hits reserve?

Dang! I just came back from the Bishop Dual Sport last month and the bikes need at least 70 mile range and they where not kidding.

I found out the hard way that the mileage varies greatly on the right wrist. I was averaging about 65-70 miles before light came on... but the other day the light came on at 45miles and sputtered to a stop at 48miles... I was forced to push it back through 3miles of whooped out sandy trails... I think I'm gonna get the translucent oversize tank as solid visual backup, because pushing sucks!

I have the IMS tank (3gal) and depending on what I am doing swap the stock tank back on for closed course or enduros. I took off the stock Speedo- so I have no "indicator light"... I put in gas when it is available when I am unsure of my needs or distance- if I know I may choose not to put gas in. I have never ran out of gas... but my buddy chasing me did with his 510...:D we both had the 1.9 at the time and now mainly run the 3gallon. (we were setting up a dualsport and way beyond and off a normal route)

just know what your bike can do- or fill it up regularly. The indicator light I believe normally leaves you with under 5 miles if that... could move it to a higher location to be more of a warning- if you are crafty...

and yes you are always carrrying around some 'extra gas (like .2 gal) that you can NOT use on 08-10 big motor models(nonXlite)s... too bad, but true. I don't even think about it anymore- just accepted it.

Make sure to pull out your fuel pump and secure it top to bottom, over/under with a zip-tie. A dislodged pump is a real big mileage killer.
