  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE510 Oil Intercooler.

RideLI631

Husqvarna
AA Class
Ive been thinking on ways to make my new 510 run a cool as possible in the tight trails/slow riding etc.. I was thinking of putting an oil intercool in place of the oil line that goes from the oil filter to the top of the head. Im wondering if anyone has done this before? is it a good idea? Where can i buy miniature oil radiators for such an idea? Any imput greatly valued.

Have you got the hi flow waterpump fitted? Factory specs say this can reduce water temp by 5 degrees and oil temp by 7...

Some Polish guy's on ADV with KTM's did it.... they brought an actual unit from somewhere.... if you look the theard was labeled
THREE POLUCKS ON KTM'S RIDE BUM F RUSSIA or something.. cool pics and good info.. nice oil cooler

coolers

i believe that there were several different sizes on the horseshoe coolers. you vent your number plate and rubber mount it around the steering head. was used by S. summers for years. a proven piece....

If you are going pretty slow in the tight ST stuff I wonder if an intercooler will do much, ie lack of airflow. I would think a water pump upgrade, radiator cap up to say 1.8psi working radiator fans and engine ice etc should be up to the job. I have all original gear on my bike no fan or upgrades only a top quality coolant and have never had a boiling issue. I ride in Oz when it is often very hot and dusty, ride slow ST with lots of hills etc, weigh 250 pounds stripped (not a good look), so I wonder if you really need the extra weight, engineering etc?

if you look at last years mx3 machines the TC450s had oil coolers on them. I did not see them on the 10 model race bikes (anyone seen them)

but i agree with ghte, if set up properly (PS not to get in anyones britches,,,,with the oem louvers in place!!) and with good hoses, 1.8, evans or other high end coolant, good high end oil, and good fuel (mine is race gas mix 95% of the time) the bike should be fine even at slower speeds. mine has endured some very ugly stuff(trust me on that) with little trouble since getting her dialed in with all the good stuff.
