• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

First things first- I was inspired by "Rajobigguy"'s post: http://www.cafehusky.com/forums/showpost.php?p=35826&postcount=159. I wanted to accomplish something similar but a tad smaller. I had gotten an Acerbis Dimension headlight off ebay for $45 because it's about 3" taller than the stocker- the actual light is exactly the same as stock, so no difference in output, and harness plugged right in. It actually made a noticeable difference in where the windblast hit me- moved it from lower chest to upper chest. Hmm, another 3" and it would be just clipping the tops of my shoulders- very acceptable for my little "610 Adventure" project! I mocked up my own design with cardboard & off to Tap Plastics I went- those guys are great- they were stoked to make something for a bike and did a really nice job They even rounded and polished the edges, all for $20! They said Lexan was the way to go for impact resistance. I then (carefully and slowly) heated it up with a heat gun and curved it to match the Acerbis plastic. I ditched the top rubber strap on the Acerbis and fabbed little brackets so it's really stable and doesn't move around at freeway speeds. I'm overjoyed with how it turned out- it's a HUGE improvement at 65 and looks very factory I.M.O.

Very nice set up jmesenburg. It's remarkable how an abbreviated windshield can make so much difference.
