• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE630 No Rear Brake.

Husqvarna
My 630 rear brake no long seems to be working. When I push the pedal down, there is no grip or bite. It barely stops the bike when it is just rolling even. I have tried bleeding the lines and put new fluid in. Nothing has seemed to work. Wondering if anyone here would know what the issue could be.

Have you checked or replaced the pads and checked the rear caliper for leakage? How about the master cylinder? Any leaks apparent. Did you accidently get chain lube on the brake rotor when lubing the chain? Few things to look at.

All of this

Thanks, there is some oil on the rotor. Will clean it off and see if that fixes it. Besides that everything looks fine.

Check the pads. Check for excessive disc wear. Check for leaks. Back bleed - is in many ways the easiest method. I did my 610 on Sunday and was astounded at how much very dark crud fluid worked its way up out the master cylinder (was not visible normally in the reservoir). Also check the brake pedal travel - it may need some adjustment at the master on the threaded rod otherwise it can bottom out on the foot peg.

Just be sure you don't pre-load your cylinder, I've seen that happen when someone was trying to get more stroke in the cylinder, boiled the fluid in the rear caliper in a few miles.

Had just recently a similar situation. The rear break suddenly stopped working, bike would just keep rolling, pedal pressure felt normal. Cleaning the rotor didn't give any immediate results, after two days of ignoring the problem the rear break would start getting better and eventually got back to normal. Must have been some oil on the road, no idea.

I swapped to EBC HH sintered pads, front and rear. They're not that expensive and the brake feel is much better.
