  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Temperature and wheel size set points on Trail Tech?

Wadda

Husqvarna
C Class
I have just recived mt Trail Tech Vector and am ready to install it on my 2004 TE250. I dont have a clue what to set the high temp and danger set points to. Any ideas? Also doe sany one know the correct wheel size for a 21 inch front wheel with a 80/100-21 AC10 on it?

It is highly dependent on where you put the temp sensor. You need to watch your bike and see when the fan comes on and then you can use that as one warning light. Set the other one like 20 degrees hight. Manual should tell how to set the wheel size.

With the temp sensor, I found the proportion you mix your radiator coolant additive in makes a big difference. With the stock fluid in my other bike it would move from hot to boiling very quickly. Since flushing it and putting quite a high amount of additive in the cooling system is a lot more effective. I have set warning to 98C (I think Trailtech recommend 110C/230F) and too hot set at 110C (Trailtech recommend 125C/257F) and it works nicely... but that bike is not a Husky.

As for measuring your diameter, you're going to struggle using other peoples settings. Simply get some chalk, put a mark on your front tyre at the bottom and on the floor then roll the bike forward in a straight line till the tyre mark is on the bottom again. mark te ground again and measure the distance travelled.

They are pretty decent units I must say. I hope you're powering the unit directly from the battery rather than through the ignition. And here's a tip if you want to make the speedo update more frequently (is useful for lower speed accuracy) get yourself some rare earth magnets from eBay that are about the same size as the one that comes with the unit. Put the 2 magnets opposite each other and halve the wheel diameter setting. Works a treat

Hey mate, I'm about to put a Vector on an 07' 510 and had the same questions. I had a look at the manual on the trailtech site and it was pretty well explained (just download the PDF for your model if you haven't already) I was also a bit confused as to what temp rating to put it at, but I think I'll go with Actra's suggestion of 98/110, mounting the sensor in the crossover hose off the T (or Y) to the left hand radiator.

I installed my Trail Tech Vector today. Was quite easy took my about an hour. I worked out the wheel size to be 2166mm. Measuring the diameter of the wheel and multiplying by 3.14.
I had to mount the temp sensor to the T hose on the left hand radiator as it was the only pipe long enough to accommodate the sensor on my 2004 TE.
Theres no fans on my bike either. I really should look into fitting some. Cheers for the suggestions Actra am going to set the Trail Tech up at those point tomorrow.
England only gets about 20 good days of weather a year anyway! Saying that though Actra I was in Sydney at the end of last November it was hardly hot!!!
I used the KTM kit (102) for my bike and it all fitted perfectly even though Trail Tech only list the TE400-610 2005-2008 as being compatible.
