    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Im sore (WAHHHHH)

Son and I had a TOTAL Blast

Sat my son and I drove down to Goldendale Washington for one of their playdays.

Loaded up Ten Fins, my 270x and my sons WR290F and left the house early (3+hours drive time)

Natural GP style track out in the farm lands of South Central Washington.

Changes to Ten Fins:
Stiff shock springs from Ohlins Sweden for the ITC rears
Race Tech Gold valves up front, correct springs

1. Suspension now does NOT blow through the stroke, front and rear.
2. Front end is night and day difference from stock, but a ways to go yet. I left the standard spring in the Gold Valve unit vs the heavier. Not enough compression so will pull the emulator and put in the heavier comp spring provided by Race Tech. On the track chop and whoops the fork ate up the the travel too fast and started a bad see saw REALLY quick (it was VERY controlled, not scary slamming the tire into the fender, just needs a lot more compression in the stroke for me/my size). Action was smooth and a vast night and day improvement
3. Last chunk of travel a clearly needs more oil in the tubes, easy fix.
4. Action of the forks is in the hunt and will be wonderful once I mess/dial them in. Like all suspension, it takes time to get them set for your riding styles.

Shock
Shocks are stock ITC, with the pressure set as per spec, and finally ----- Phat Butt springs on her.
Put the new springs on the center clip, need to go down, oh 2 more clips (wow is modern suspension nice just in terms of being able to screw adjust preload!).
Rebound is WAY out of sorts....wow.....correct springs and realize that the valving is set for high speed desert and NOT mx.
kick, wow did it kick, dont think there is any rebound in the shocks....
sheeeeesh

1.. Stock springs front and rear were sacked. Period.
2. springs alone really helped.
3. Forks are in the hunt, need messin with goldvalve and oil level.
4. Shocks must be worked over by someone that KNOWS Ohlins ITCs.

Great ride report....about the time that you are dialed in, Iwill be rebuilding mine....

What do you weigh? How tall? You don't look like a chick so I'm assuming that you will post up your actual weight...

I'm 6ft 240 so I'm looking for a bench mark.... Race Tech is right here in Corona.... I can drive over and see Matt anytime I'm ready.....

The owner of the Track is a friend of mine and a Vintage Husky nut, he has like 21 huskies there, all in various stages of built and rebuild.

I rode his 83 XC250 and his 83 CR500

He had redone his ITCs himself, wow they were nice, night and day from mine, so I KNOW the potential is there, same with the forks.

I am still a bit lean jetting wise, had the chance on some of the uphill straights to put the juice to her, and the transition from needle to main was a bit flat, then a surge....
so
will do some more tweaking...but am very close with the jetting.
She starts like a dream, cold or hot...runs good, just a bit lean...
Son does NOT like the amount of junk that she throws though when i went past him on the gas...

I had the Leatt, but switched to the EVS, but I do LOVE It
comfy, doesnt shift, and for me, the EVS was way more comfortable.

HR - question for you, as I just did mine couple of days ago but yet to ride them. I'm same size as you, used the .48 springs, put the yellow springs with 3 turns preload on the RT emulators, 15wt oil, 135mm from top with 10mm preload per their instructions. How much free sag are you getting in yours when you take bike off stand and let it settle under it's own weight ? Thanks Rhett '82 500CR
 
good question, didnt check the sag with my bike off the stand.

I do need to pull the emulators and put the stiffer/optional Compression spring in.....and move past the 3 turns...start at 6 turns in------ after riding my buds XC's he had there.

I can measure my sag and post...

Thanks just curious as my settles enough that I can pull up on the bars and lifts up noticeably. Think I'll just ride practice before race next weekend and if need be add more at track, just seemed to settle quite a bit. Seem to remember abot 30-35mm sag is what you wanted on modern bikes.
